Info on The Great House Indoril

Post » Sat Oct 16, 2010 5:18 am

Hi, I'm thinking of maybe making a mod for Morrowind where The Great House Indoril is going to expand themselves a little into Vvardenfell, make them joinable, start by maybe making a small town recently built and then expand if the player joins and get him his own town et.c.

And I'd like to get as much information as possible, I've quickly read the info available in the Lore FAQ but I need some more, here are a few of the things I need, but everything is welcomed, no mater how small, even if it was in the Lore FAQ post it anyways, I might have missed it :D

*UPDATE*
- House Indoril Crest (I know it's a wing, but i need to see/find out more what it looks like).
- Known persons.
- Is it tougher for a foreigner to join Indoril than the other houses?
- Assuming the above is a yes, what would a foreigner have to do to have a chance of joining?
- Architecture (Exterior/Interior)
- Recommend locations on Vvardenfell for towns/cities/forts. (Important)
- Faction Requirements. (Important)

I'll probably update this list at some point, i just can't think of anything more right now.

Again post anything you know, however small and even if it's in the Lore FAQ cause i might have missed it :D

Keep in mind the dialogue in "Oblivion" that states Helseth has allied with House Dres, and "Together they pick apart the carcass of ruined Indoril".

doing a search on TIL for "indoril" will likely bring up all the info we have.

- House Indoril Crest (I know it's a wing, but i need to see/find out more what it looks like).

no further info

- Known persons.

Nerevar. other than that i can't recall anyone mentioned in lore.

- Is it tougher for a foreigner to join Indoril than the other houses?

since they are a traditional house, probably yes.

- Assuming the above is a yes, what would a foreigner have to do to have a chance of joining?

make something up. probably involves proving devotion to the temple and patriotism towards morrowind. i'd add in a reputation check as well.

- Architecture (Exterior/Interior)

the green one in Tribunal.

- Recommend locations on Vvardenfell for towns/cities/forts. (Important)

probably towards the south, in the bitter coast and ascadian isles.

- Faction Requirements. (Important)

don't know what you mean by this, but theres probably no info on it, so make something up.

The Imperial Library is one of the oldest and best Elder Scrolls sites, though it's being renovated for the next month or so. http://www.imperial-library.info/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1275915770

- and they are all so modest ^^

however if you visit TIL you might ask certain members there what they think - there is always the possibility that someone has an unused sketch that has an Indoril banner or other emblem -

looking at the lore and balance of power your idea is quite a good and potentially rich one - Indoril refugees seeking safety anywhere they can find it

note that settlement of Vvardenfell is a treaty matter - between Temple and Imperials so there may be Imperial involvement in that too as they also want to settle there

also there are the running battles between Redoran/Hlaalu/Telvannis to create new and prevent the others from creating new settlements on Vvardenfel

the reputation of Indoril is based on honor before all else - that means patrician and temple-focused. consider that Indoril has been let down as badly as (or worse then) Redoran by the Tribunal

note that Helseth brought mercenaries for his Royal Guard into Mournhold even before Ayem got herself executed (what can I say - I just had to do it ^^ ) - and the reputation of Dres re slaving and vampirism

You might consider that Great Houses got to be great by absorbing Lesser Houses - Telvanni would be too independant and amoral for normal Indoril (what happens if an Indoril gets twisted by experience - look at Alma) but Redoran values honor and the Temple so they might have much in common

I would expect that Redoran, looking for allies against Hlaalu and Dres might negociate generous terms and land to Indoril refugees with some serious comeback from Indoril expected in the future - depending on the skills and nature of Indoril's diplomats - and never discounting the possibility of sabotage

the way your possible scenarios would work out would be highly political - so the House affiliation of your Nerevarine has got to be important - lol - you might be in trouble if he/she is a vampire or werewolf.

best of luck with that - be interesting to know what you decide ^^

Thanks :D I found a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:MW-map-Great_House_Influence.jpg on the UESP Wiki showing the borders of towns and forts, but I recall seeing a different map that showed the entire borders of each house, anyone have a link to such a picture? :D

Im probably able to just answer a few of the above stated questions about House Indoril.

One being, known persons. Nerevar is one I believe. But apart from that I havent heard or seen anything that would relay information about other members of that Great House.

As for difficulty for an outlander to join, Id say yes. Because apart from mods for the PC Im kind of sure that you cant join Indoril, Dres, any other secular houses apart from the main 3. And that being said, for a foreigner to be able to join, as such, they would probably have to speak to a council member and they would probably be given some kind of a task that would allow them to prove themselves in some way or die trying.

The last one i might be able to answer off of pure speculation is the locales. In Vvardenfell, the firstplace that would come to my mind is Vivec City. All of the Temple guards there wear House Indoril armor. So naturally, their rule would probably start at Vivec City, and stretch as far as it can possibly can go in all directions until another Great House tries to settle the score.

I would choose a different location. I don't know if you read Infernal City but major changes happen to Vvadenfel. Plus If Indoril is so Temple dependent what are they going to worship now that their gods are gone? Unless the Temple will indeed change and honor the ancestors more and slowly let the Tribunal go.

also they might relax their position on foreigners after Infernal City ( or the events that occured before this and after ES III)
