Inner monolouge roleplaying.

Post » Tue Jun 28, 2011 9:01 am

Recently I've started to give roleplaying a go with my newest character Darren, a charismatic, adventure-loving, headstrong bard with a mild case of alchoholism. He has no qualms with nicking the odd item here and there, but has good intentions at heart.

But what's wierd is that I've been monolouging in my head as I play him - it's not the case of: 'Oh, what would Darren do in this situation?' or 'Ooh, some brandy in an abandoned house. Time for Darren to drink it and get pissed.' I've actually been monolouging -as- the character in my head, thinking 'Oh, bloody hell!' when being chased by a ogre, 'Time to get sh*tfaced, I deserve it after that.' -after- being chased by an ogre, 'Why hello there...' when talking to an attractive-looking barmaid, ecetera. You get the point.

Just wondering - do any other roleplayers do this, or is it just me?

I do that all the time. I am always inside my character's head, "hearing" what he/she is thinking. I consider that a very vital part of roleplaying, and I can't really imagine roleplaying without doing that.

That's right...I'm a cat skinner from the 70's.

I'm always talking for my evil, necro, cannibal characters. But, then again... I'm a twisted individual anyway.

My characters definitely have voices of their own. So there can be a monolog or a conversation going on while I play. But when they speak up outside of the game, it can be disconcerting! ;)

Hell, I might be crazy, I narrate my life like a narrator in a book...as it's happening, somewhat like J.D in Scrubs, except in third person.

My character and I have an almost constant dialogue when playing. Often it includes her mare and sometimes even her bow. And of course any NPC within range. I think the technical term is pvssyrbox. Lol.
