Am I insane?

Bethesda is by far my favorite company. Am I insane to buy any Elder Scrolls game immediately and without question?(same goes for Fallout now)

 It depends, I guess. A lot of people here will likely wait to purchase TES:V, until they hear some player reviews on these forums indicating whether it shares some of the flaws the perceived in Oblivion.

I personally bought FO3 on a whim, particularly because Bethesda developed it. Knew nothing about FO as a series. Knew precious little about gameplay or premise. I don't regret the purchase at all. And, during the absolutely insane hype during the pre-Oblivion-release, there was no question in my mind that I was buying the sequel to Morrowind. I'll probably buy TES:V upon release regardless; even though I agree with those who cite Oblivion's flaws, I'm OK with being a guinea pig.

In my opinion, TES series are still the best games ever made. I know I will always enjoy an Elder Scrolls game, regardless of reviews or any gameplay flaws. As soon as the announcement for TES V comes out, I will be completely ecstatic and will pre-order it as soon as possible. Then I will hold on tight to the receipt and never let go until it is time to prove that my copy is mine. I lost my Fallout 3 GOTY edition receipt and am worried that they won't be able to identify my purchase. My birthday is a few days after the GOTY edition's release, which worries me more as my only birthday gift may not arrive to me on time.

If you're insane, that means a lot of people on these forums are also.

Well, while I don't disagree with your decision to purchase right away, don't get too caught up in the pre-release hype. Speaking as someone who lurked as a guest around here during the Oblivion pre-release time-period, people (me included) were setting their expectations immensely high (aided and abetted by developer statements, dev diaries, and demo footage). And then when the game actually came out, it was a huge letdown to the game we had already established in our minds.

No. And if you are insane, then I'm insane for buying a metroid game as soon as I can regardless of reviews.(except Metroid Prime Pinball. I want it so badly but I can't find a copy of it anywhere.)
You just happen to really like a series and that's fine. Just don't go elitist and everything will be fine.

You're insane, but that's beside the point. :P

I'll have a copy of TESV and Fallout 4 in my hands on launch day, yessiree. I might regret the purchase later (hope not!), but I'm playing them both for myself before deciding they svck.

I'm in the same boat as you. If they have one of those midnight release dates I'll be there and I'll be first :)

:P You should try typing in the words "in" "soviet" and "russia", preview it, and see what you get.

I've bought them all without question so far*, but no more. TES5 might be the best one in the series, or another crappy kid's game, and I want to know which is it before I spend a single euro-cent in it.
I started the ideas/suggestions threads, and have used plenty of time to help "design" the game, as many others have too. So if all that's ignored and the game is still dumbed down, Bethesda loses a customer for life.

So I can't really tell if you're insane or not. But the smart thing to do would be wait and see, and then vote with your wallet. (Wallet IS the thing you keep your money in, right? How's it spelled)

*(several copies of TES2)

Now back on topic, Seti you're fine. Try and not get too much svcked into the hype. It will destroy your hopes and dreams.

It is spelled wallet, but I don't have one. I don't have money at all. My mom just buys stuff for me on my birthday and occasionally. None of TES games seemed dumbed down. If you want to see dumbed down, play Civilization Revolution and compare it to the other Civilization games. Oblivion fits in fine with TES series in my opinion.

Brother Seti, of course you are insane. We all are. Our Lord Sheogorath wants us to walk the road of insanity, the Golden road. By pre-ordering the game immediately you will please Him, since that means you are one of us Madmen here at the forums.

Walk with Our Lord.

Well, they only release a game every few years, so it's not like you are being ruined by your "insanity"

Depends. Personally I will most likely buy an eventual TES V, but not before I know if the flaws of Oblivion (I really didn't care for oblivion) have carried over.
