[RELz] Insanity's Oblivion Launcher

Post » Mon Feb 21, 2011 11:15 pm

Hmmmm, Still having the same issue with the application telling me that I don't have bash installed.

The 'start in' file path is correct now in under options (only one '\') but I wonder if the target is set correctly [%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Python25\pythonw.exe bash.py]

Please advise.

Nice idea! Everything works except launching the CS and the CS w/OBSE for some reason.

Really, hmmm well in that case I will dig around and fix it :)

Ok the way Bash is installed the App just looks for a folder called "Mopy" in the OB directory, it then looks inside that folder for "Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw". If either of those are missing then it causes a Bash not found error.

I don't use Bash myself only ever once for testing the launching and it worked. Going to re-download and install to check and fix these errors.

Hmmmm, I don't seem to have a Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw in my Mopy folder but I do have two shortcuts in there that will start Wrye Bash.

Here's a picture with the properties to the 2.5 version

I also seem to be having the same issue as Arkngt with the launching of the CS, and CS+OBSE.
The application tells me it cannot find them as well.

Seems they done things different in the older versions, I will see if I can add in an alternate run option in the code for it :)

Updated to 1.2, DL link in OP :)

Bugs Fixed:

*CS and CS w/OBSE broken links fixed
*Wrye Bash launching fixed, at least for current version and 2.5 version. Should stay fixed unless there are other launch methods.

Thanks for all the bug reports.

Edit: Now Mirrored on TESNexus, DL link added to the OP.

Downloaded 1.2.
Tested all functions (except BOSS since I hate having to move the .esps it doesn't find yet again but it worked fine in earlier versions so figured it's good).

Verdict.........

We have a winner folks!

Wrye bash, OBMM, NifSkope, OB, OB+OBSE, CS, CS+OBSE all launch correctly.

Thanks again for such a cool utility, and your simply awesome support for your release. :foodndrink:

(wanders off to clean his desktop, and quick launch icons while thinking about more dialog for the quest mod).

EDIT: BTW I tested BOSS also.... Works flawlessly. :)

Update - Early Version 2:

Okay after updating the app yesterday and seeing the feedback I was getting, I thought it was about time I started planning version 2. I don't see V2 being released for a while yet, but I have begun on the UI work:

Been trying it and it really is useful. No longer do I need 8 different shortcuts, such a useful launcher.

Excellent plans. Just don't forget to make the options to change the paths on the programs & utilities, etc.
Ex. I don't install GMax where it wants to install in C:\, I create a folder in C:\Program Files\GMax and install to there. So make the options to change all the paths as you had in version 1 options. And please include all the default paths in the read-me. It helps a little from time to time.

Any chance of making it skinnable or an option to change UI colors? Would be nice if I could put different textures to it Ex. ElvenMapTexture, DarkUI Deep Red, Etc.

There is no need for that, the application automatically detects the install path of the applications for you based on registry entries. The only two paths you have to set are for GIMP and GMax because they don't write the install location to the registry. Version 1 never had any such options either.

I have no current plans for extra skins or colours, but I will look into alternate colour options. Skins like scrolls are harder to introduce than standard colouring.

Dont go too overboard. There can be such a thing as too much >_>

I think having the Oblivion tools is a great idea, but personally I think even adding shortcuts for, example, photoshop and gimp is a bit overboard. Most people who have photoshop/gimp tend to have easy access to it already because they more than likely use it for more than just oblivion.

Yup I know, thats why I am trying to keep it to just modding tools :D. I have both Photoshop and GIMP installed and like the idea of having options in ISOBL for them, so I disagree there.

Update: Version 2 has just entered its first and only Beta testing period. During this short time I will fix bugs and tweak things as needed, V2 should be ready in a day or so, maybe earlier depending on the feedback :D

Supergroovilisticprotifunkilazation. I'm off to install, and enjoy. Thanks IS :foodndrink:

EDIT:
Hmmmm, It's not finding my Photoshop installation. Probably since I have it in a partitioned HD under a drive letter that is not 'C'. I notice you have buttons for setting the file path for Gimp, and GMax, and also have a directory tab for all directories.
Any chance I could set my Photoshop file path via one of these types of options?

Thanks for reporting Nico, that was an issue that never came up in the testing nor one I could replicate. I have changed the PS one to a manual directory setting now so it should work for everyone :foodndrink:

Also added a 3DSMax launch button as requested :)
