[RELz] Insanity's Retexture Releases

Enhanced then improved then ... another version ... so confusing tracking what is outdated because you redid the normals again.

Any chance on a comprehensive collection in one download?

Yikes! Ever think about using jpeg instead of pngs?

Not really, PNGs are far better quality, which is important for showing the textures.

Never saw these before. Well done

Why thank you :D

I love to confuse you all

There is a compilation in the works for the current Improved Armoury releases :), The others won#t be getting a pack like that as they're random RELz's.

So if I install the released normals then overwrite with the released armor and weopons packs that include new normals, and overwrite the normals I installed first, I should be good, yes?

Or if you haven't installed the Enhanced normals you can skip them :), The Enhanced normals are meant more for those who don't want the retextures as well.

OK. I just did not want to skip as I assumed that the normals did more than just the armor, that they also did the weapons. So if I used the enhanced armor testure I would not get the improvements to the weapons (ebony or elven for example).

Yes you'd get the effects of those for the textures the IA set doesn't touch :)

Added a note to the OP:

Note: The Enhanced Normals are for those who do NOT want a full texture replacer, if you do, please use the Improved Armoury set instead. If you want to use the Enhanced Normals for the textures IA does not touch, then install them first.

I have a new addition, a little different from the others, this one is clothing:

Improved Clothing - Wizard's Robe
  • Version: 1.0
  • Release: 03/03/2011
  • Download: http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/798-improved-clothing-wizards-robe/

After the armor and weapons are done, I'm thinking about moving onto the clothing.

Khettienna has been kind enough to make a Complilation pack of the currently released Improved Armoury releases, well minus the ones I uploaded while she was busy :lmao:

You can get it http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/797-insanitys-improved-armoury-compilation/ :D

I can't not be pleased, to be honest, because I love the textures. :D

In any case, http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/797-insanitys-improved-armoury-compilation/ contains all the armor & weapon textures to date except for the http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/799-improved-armoury-city-guards/, which I'll add in another time. That omod takes like forty minutes to compress, holy moley!

When IS makes us a giant pile of clothing textures, I'll make a separate pack for those.

Get back to work, IS! :poke: :lmao:

InsanitySorrow were you aware of the hi-res city guard textures from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14660? They actually redid them, so you may have done more work than necessary this time!

Haha, you're probably right after the crazy flood of armor textures. I'm going to take it as a challenge, though, and get started soon on doing armor textures in the manner of the MEAT and Redone series. So I suppose my goal is to make all of his work obsolete, haha. All in good fun, of course.

Also, it looks like these armor textures are going to end up with their own little section on the mod website I'm working on (specifically in the Enhancement->Equipment section!), so I must thank IS for making it possible for me to link to an entire series of armor textures and not just disparate textures from things like the Redone series and MEAT.

If you want an additional challenge, you could do a scaled up version of the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34045. No idea where to find the texture, though.

Yes I was, I've seen it before, seen quite a lot of High Res mods, but it didn't stop me making my own :P

And then I'll make a new pack to out-do you , Tis just fun so I'm looking forward to seeing what you do :D

Oh that, it's easy, it's in Textures>Armor>Leather folders. The leather you see in-game is inside the Thief folder, kinda odd.

You know where this leads, don't you? Late 2012, working on 8192x8192 armor textures that take six weeks per texture, working all day, using a home studio filled with every possible material imaginable to take photos of to convert into textures. The outside world has long since lost relevance. Only texturing matters now. Texture madness.

We can't go down that road! We've lost too many already!

Ah, that makes sense then, I always wondered why the leather armor was in a folder called 'thief.' So they originally had some separate set of Thief armor, and at some point decided to get rid of the armor type but use its art for the Leather armor type instead.

Either that or they scrapped the original leather and went for the new design, but instead of removing the old stuff they just added in the new stuff, which would explain why the leather armor is now in the Thief folder.

New Addition:

Improved Armoury - Ayleid Crown

May I give a suggestion to Improved Armoury - Elven?

Is there a possibility to tweak the colors a bit (maybe in an optional version) so that Elven Armours look more like gold than, say, lime?

Been using these couple mods for that: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3989 and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3994

I was going to suggest the same thing, but I realized I could pretty easily do it myself. You know, if everyone had GIMP and wasn't afraid to use the lasso tool, there would be a lot more satisfaction with textures, heh. It's so easy, if there's something I don't like about a texture I just open it up and edit it.

But if you don't want to do that, I can link you mine if InsanitySorrow doesn't feel like doing it. Whenever I get around to opening them up.

I already tweaked the colours a little, but with the IA set I don't want to stray to far from the original designs ect, not sure I'll get around to doing it as I have my hands full finishing the original set.

Next release is this:
