sorry for using their model of power armor but it's been more developed on the engineering side. also their fanbase meant those fake models of power armor being created.
the movie, in my vision represents the way such a full-body armor might be put on. it has a sub-frame (the exoscheletons the army is testing these days) on which the armor itself is being assembled.
this ideea would be put in practice by today's widely known technologies, that don't imply some kind of elastic matterial, that have super resistance to damage.
inside the power armor would by like hell. anyone here played paintball. the first time is a killer with the full face mask that steams up from breathing, the noise that you perceive inside suit's hood. and then thrown in the middle of a battle. if you really imagine yourself fighting for life, some might understant how it feels in this suit when it's needed. it narrows your senses like hell and would require massive amount of cameras to feed imagery to the user, so it ake it an efficient combat suit, not just an infantry-tank.
for this purpose, the deathclaws (developed by the pre-war army) would be best choise.
