Inside a suit of Power Armor?

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 3:50 pm

What do you all reckon the inside of a suit of power armor would be like? What sort of material would be felt as you slip into it? How would you get into it? Do you need to wear something and then get in? Is it hot inside when standing in the wasteland sun (No air conditioner?!)?

For the T-45d, you wear http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110729230353/fallout/images/thumb/0/07/Recon_armor.png/830px-Recon_armor.png under the armour. For the T-51b, you wear something similar but apparently with less protection. Oh, and the power armour has air conditioning, as well as the ability to turn urine into water which you can drink within the suit! :D

I'm using the bathroom before I ever go into a suit of power armor now.

I have always wondered how you put power armor on. I mean is it like a pair of pants and then you put the arms and chest pieces on or what?

Maybe it's boots then pants then chestpiece/sleeves then helmet?

I bet you need help putting the power armor on. It looks like there are pieces (chest, back, legs, arms, boots) which are screwed onto your underarmor (recon armor), kind of like medieval knights how the squires helped put his platemail on.

I thought to put it on, it folded. Like the T-45d helmet you can see the things that let it open up from the back of your head. I would think the other pieces be like that.

Pretty sure the Remnants helmet would look something like http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/images/40040-1-1302383941.jpg from inside.

There are two eyes not one eye hole, so I would think that you would have to put something inbetween that.

Anyone ever read Starship Troopers? I imagine this Power Armor would pretty much be exactly like that on the inside.
Can't remember all the details right now, but I remember thinking it sounded about what to expect here.

For clarification on what I mean here are some pictures.

http://www.google.com/imgres?q=t-51b&um=1&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&biw=1280&bih=856&tbm=isch&tbnid=N2q4yncEBUn87M:&imgrefurl=http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Winterized_T-51b_power_armor&docid=OfGQloyGogeG5M&imgurl=http://images.wikia.com/fallout/images/5/56/Winterized_T-51b.png&w=393&h=740&ei=Gr6pTq-qHsessQLkruDoDw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=389&vpy=273&dur=391&hovh=308&hovw=163&tx=102&ty=215&sig=104759866189191645301&page=1&tbnh=157&tbnw=88&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0 The two that pop out here are the lower legs, and the chest. Look and you will see what seems to be leather straps. I would assume that those act as support for the things already holding it together.

http://www.google.com/imgres?q=t-45d+power+armor&um=1&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&biw=1280&bih=856&tbm=isch&tbnid=u5RNKIuasjTOEM:&imgrefurl=http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/14524-Fallout-Armor-Pep-Files-References&docid=eHpbiMGZ4PUDnM&imgurl=http://www.sghi.info/img/Fallout.3/development/7-10.15_man.in.power.armor_Brotherhood.of.Steel_fullface.2_HQ.jpeg&w=1680&h=1050&ei=d7-pTqehGsilsALjzYGkDw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=176&vpy=359&dur=343&hovh=177&hovw=284&tx=219&ty=84&sig=104759866189191645301&page=2&tbnh=125&tbnw=200&start=26&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:26 This one is really clear right above the eye slit is a whatever you call it that would make it open up.

Other than these things I would imagine it would be bolted on, it seems that way for the shoulders especially with those big bolts on the chest.

I am aware of that, but our eyes actually don't see the gap if it's too close, right? Kinda like the glasses?

I don't know, glasses is a thing little beam most of the time, and you can see it sometimes like you can see your nose. The piece inbetween the eyes looks to be the entire distance from eye to eye.

To actaully find out I would have to try it myself. :) But I'm pretty sure you would see something.

Put three fingers between your eyes, over the nose, then read the forum or just look around yourself. You can still see everything you could see before, but you notice the darkness of your fingers in your vision and that can be a bit distracting at first. This is something hard to simulate in a game, but maybe it works if you make it see-through? Or maybe that would be too ugly. So yeah.

First it would be a powered exoskeleton, just to make the user stronger, nothing like fallout. And also imagine if they have exoskeletons released to the public just imagine what else they haven't. :) My theory is that the usa has such weapons of incredible use, that they are just waiting for something so serious foe them to be used.

Seeing as it's full metal and only bends at the joints, you probably couldn't slip into it like a T-shirt or a pair of pants. To me, it seems impossible to put on without having it actually BUILT onto the wearer. The bends and bumps in the armor would be to complex for a limb to slither in and out of.

the term "power armor" is native to fallout world, but what it really is can be found in many other game, movie, animation titles.

it's a full body armos wich is powered by motors. and thus increase the overall capacity the user can cary (exoscheleton which us army is showing us does exaclty that. + 2 strenght )
in starcraft the marine is wearing such a suit, for llife
in japanese animation
....etc...etc...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powered_exoskeleton

a car har a chassis underneath the body. the exoscheleton is just that chassis, which will be protected by some kind of armor.
the USAF Predator was used in irak in '90. it's existence has been made public in the md 2000, and last year or 2 years ago diferent documentaries presenteds it's use in the gulf war. do you really, really expect to be made aware of the latest weapon techs?
the power armor is existing.

Things of that nature needs to be developed, tested, etc. now. After all "The Great War" is only 66 years away.

As far as putting on the power armor, I just use my pipboy. Sorry couldn't resist saying that.
