Insta-death on loading

Post » Wed Dec 30, 2009 9:57 am

I got into a fight with some of those colorful flying wasp things. Which got me down to one bar of health, and I was poisoned.

Then I went into a new building, and died instantly. The game auto-saved. So now whenever I load the game I die INSTANTLY (not a second to press the pip-boy button)

I'm level 17 and have invested man many hours already!

No other saves to load.

Is there a way to

1. stop myself from dying straight after a load?
2. roll back the load to my last level?
3. Not have poison effect me for a couple of seconds after a load?

Surely these are obvious bugs that should be fixed right?

It may be a pain in the ass to here, but you should have had more save games. It's a shame when the only way to go trough a game is to save gazillion on times.
Oh and you should also get rid of all the auto-save crap. It get your data corrupted and your game more buggy. That's what I did with Fallout 3, and it's pretty much bug free.
Will probably do the same with NV when I'll be courageous enough to try another walktrough...
I find it hard to believe that your ONLY save data is an auto-save, don't you ever save your game lol?
Finally, if I were you I'd mash the O button like a crazy [censored] during the loading of the save data, hoping that the pip-boy will open before you die.
Good luck

I don't like the notion of having to save obsessively in order to protect one's self from glitches, etc., but you really ought to manually save your game a little more often than >17 hours.

Sorry to hear about your situation: what you've encountered is simply a really unfortunate circumstance.

honestly this is the main reason why i save at random intervals, not because cazadors to point out....but if you had three other save files for your character then you could easily load those, but i do like the auto save feature cause it can also be used as a lifeline for such a case, but sadly this doesnt appear to be a bug or glitch, just a bad situation in game...other than having plenty of saves, the only other thing i can say is when you travel off road, always have a bottle of anti venom with you : /

Sorry man but you were dumb as a doorknob. Now start again and save often.

I've played twice and about 40 hours or so into each game and on my previous and current play throughs, I've found the need to start over to tweak the stats on my character. I'll probably play another week, then rush to the main quest/endgame, but as it stands now I'm practically dying to re-roll a new character again.

I know it's kind of a pain in the beginning, but if you start a new character, there are so many ways you can make life easier such as having high speech, it will make the majority of your quests pretty much a cakewalk...
