Is it ok to install DLC first?

Post » Mon Apr 15, 2013 2:19 am

So I had bought and installed Hearthfire while still on an old patch. 1.5 to be exact. I just updated to 1.9 the otter day. Is this ok, or should you always be updated before installing DLC?

I would update first. It might make some corrections before you install the DLC.

I don't know if Hearthfire will even run on version 1.5. Some of the patches were released to provide compatibility with the DLCs.

Confirmed - Hearthfire requires a minimum of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Official_Plug-ins. You should be okay if you patched up later, though.

I don't think installation order matters, but I'm no expert.

Is it okay to install Dragonborn on my Ps3 before Dawnguard and Hearthfire? Because I only got $20 right now, and I want to play on Solstheim.

Yes.

That's what I did when only Dragonborn was out at the time.

I hadn't played Skyrim since June, so I was on 1.5. I bought HF a couple months ago because I had $5 on my account, so I got it but I wasn't playing Skyrim at the time. I got on the other day and updated to 1.9 because I was getting that Elder Scrolls itch and I played for a little bit. I found straw, glass, and hinges at a general merchant, so it seemed all was ok. I'm not Thane of any hold on my current character, so I couldn't check out any property building though. I never tried playing with HF when I was on 1.5 because I knew I needed to be updated. I'm just making sure it was ok that I got the DLC first before updating?

For the PS3, yes. Dragonborn was released first, Hearthfire second, and Dawnguard third.

On the PS3? Yes...it was terrible.

Dragonborn finally came out Feb 12, 2013
Hearthfire came out after 5 months on Feb 19, 2013
And Dawnguard....came out after 8 months on Feb 26, 2013

I'm surprised you didn't know. All three came out with a 50% discount on their first week.

That means that if you got them all when they came out, you would have gotten them for $22.49.

Yeah, I misread your post.

I think you should be okay installing the DLC and then patching the game.
