Install Probs in Win7

Post » Thu Oct 22, 2009 8:57 pm

Having some corrupt installs. I am following the install guide at the top of this forum for Win 7. Will Morrowind plus Tribunal and Bloodmoon install okay on Win 7 64-bit?

I am not very clued in with Windows generally.

If Morrowind must have Win 7 32-bit, will Microsoft allow me to install and activate the 32-bit Win 7 on the same computer on a second drive? I plan to disconnect the 64-bit HDD during that install.

Morrowind installs just fine on Win7/64. However, I recommend not using the default path since it usually gives problems. Make another folder in the C: path and install it there. Like: C:\Bethesda\Morrowind.

If you've already tried to install, unfortunately you probably have a path in the registry that will keep you from doing this. You'll need to remove the path with regedit or some registry cleaning tool.

Thank you, Fragonard. That'll save me a lot of angst. In following the 'Installing in Vista/Win7' topic, I am doing the first task suggested, that of running the Compatibility tool which runs the game. I tested the .exe. Should I have tested compatibility with the Launcher? The error I saw was 'Font 0 not found'.

I don't know, I didn't follow those suggestions. At first I did a default install and got the "snowflake" error. Then I read about problems specific to Program files(86) installations so I made a separate folder but discovered the registry path problem left over from the first install. So I deleted the path info in the registry (you could also just change the path) and reinstalled with no problem at all.

I installed using the suggested path after removing old registry path info. The game starts nicely with no errors flagged.

Thanks for your help.
