It doesn't matter that much. I have only played for a few hours, but it would have been nice to continue with my current character.

Doubt you will be able to load a previously saved game after the last patch. It's safer to create a new char or rebuild the char you have after patching the game.

Yea, whether or not you can load the save file, you really should start a new character anyways. It's just best to play it safe.
