Instanced loot and living in a bubble

Post » Wed Feb 26, 2014 5:20 pm

Really - I give up. No point debating this any longer.

If you haven't played the game, why don't you try doing that and seeing if you enjoy it? I hope you do. I hope the lack of racing to crates and barrels containing some low level provisioning ingredient worth 1 gold won't ruin the game for you.

You still don't seem to understand why this change bothers me. I never wanted to "race" to any crates. I just find it very awkward that they are full with so many people running around and looting them. Finding empty containers was something that proved the world around me was alive. If you don't care about such things, so be it.

If you actually play the game before complaining, you would find that there are still empty containers.

No seriously, I give up. There were over a million in the last beta test, and this is the first actual complaint I've seen about this feature, a month later. I can't recall any YouTube videos deriding this awful design flaw, no lengthy threads debating the pros and cons.

Please, just play the game.

Oh really?

How about this part crates, barrels, nightstands, bread, etc.

As i see it -chest are still NOT instanced, and most the fuss we heard allready -was about chest only.

I would personally like way more if they introduce instanced resources, instead of instanced "trash"

Maybe you miss it ;D but there is also a mention that all lootable trash are curently worthles(like worth 0 gold) - so yes, you can loot it, but no, it is pointless to sell it

I don't see this as much competition actually, the world containers is cheap stuff anyway.

The only issue is that you will face only empty containers in areas with lots of players while only full ones as soon as you get a bit out of the popular locations.

Coldharbor is the only real interesting place for containers as it drop style books and lots of lockpicks.

It mentions all kinds of containers and then "etc". Anyhow, it is good that chests are not instances as well.

It would be terrible if they made resource nodes instanced. Might as well give you your own instance, an lfg function, ability to invite your friends and so on.

Well I am not touchy enough for such things to cause me grief in real life or make me fly into a rage (especially when it comes to some meager crafting materials). Neither are the other advlts I know who play mmorpgs.

Look I'm old school back in the Asherons call day where everyone was free for all kills and you dropped loot when u die.. Reason I bring that up is back then if someone ninja your quest, item, mob, whatever you had the option to kill them. But once MMOs got main streamed they took a lot of those hard core features out and u were stuck just letting your self get ninja or bullied off said items above.

So yes I'm glad they did this, reduces the time I sit around waiting for items to,spawn

Hopefully with this change more people will notice the inventory and most of all bank account space problem and complain.

So maybe something will be done about it.

Anyway I personally am very happy about this change :)

I just hope that they introduce justice system and all of those who with impunity rob NPCs chests will be punished and think twice before doing so. Then the problem is solved.

I sent a "bug" report and also mentioned it in the feedback, hopefully they reduce that instanced loot a bit, so many full containers, mother of god, the chances to NOT get a blue book are very very low, not to mention of course the non instanced area's you can spend up to an hour collecting stuff from chests/barrels, shooting your provisioning skills by quite a bit.

This change should really apply to all dungeon chests, so you don't have noobs running off to pick the chest instead of fighting.

As for feeling that players are ghosts and you live in your own bubble because there is bread to loot for everyone.... not sure if there are pills for that. Go find RPG players and maybe then you'll have a chance to feel real players around you. You might even have a chance to ponder the incoming end of the world.... Let's face it - groups of people looting bread from cupboards in random houses is a sure sign of the apocalypse....

The less instancing the better! That's one thing I hated about SWTOR. It felt like I was playing a single player game with multiplayer elements instead of a MMORPG since everything was so heavily instanced. I hope TESO isn't like that...

As someone who grew up on old-school MMO's like DAoC, i understand where you are coming from. I fondly remember how we used to divide loot after finally killing the dragon on the 6th attempt. Those were times. It felt like you were part of a community. This modern "loot for everyone" feels so... can't quite find the word for it. Bland? Oh well.

There wouldn't been much of the loot drama if loot stay like it used to be, round the robin for pugs and master looter for organized group. Its the invention of bound on pickup item and need before greed rolls that spawn the numerous amount of loot entitlement jerks that I hope everything is instanced.

I will wait until I experience the new version before I comment as I dislike pretending to know what something is like.

Will report back Monday if i remember.
