Institute power armor.

Yeah, I kind of want this instead of X-01. It actually looks like a super effective design fitting to the Institute's advanced capabilities.

For those who haven't seen it.

Yeah, turning one's head is highly over-rated anyhow.

Don't need to if it has a built in HUD, which is something the Institute is capable of developing.

I would rather they expand more on the cybernetics, like FNV implants only more visible changes.

Aw that's adorable! I wish they'd have that. It's so bulbous!

Agreed! This is something i've always wanted to see. Cables sticking out of our head, cybernetic limbs, and maybe even weaponized arms. Now if that Institute armour would come with an-inbuilt drill arm that'd be cool.

A harpoon gun would also fit to complete the look.

It's not an effective design at all. You wouldn't even be able to turn your head in that thing.

I could see this with a steam punk version of Hancock's outfit.

I imagine there's a bodysuit of some sort on the inside that enables the person inside to turn the head freely and then is fed vision via electronic cables or something, maybe even a video while on the outside it doesn't seem like anything is happening.

Though I imagine for that the power armour would need to bigger than the rest.

In the Wild Cards anthology series of novels (edited by George R. R. Martin) there was a superhero named The Great And Powerful Turtle who was just a telekinetic who used his powers to fly around inside a "turtle shell" he welded out of salvaged battleship steel. He had cameras on the outside of the ship that let him see all around. While the power armor is not THAT big (vehicle sized) it would not have to be too big to have micro-lens cameras set around it. In a way, they're treating power armor more ~like~ a vehicle than a simple exoskeleton, now, anyway. Why would you ~need~ to turn your head if you had a "backup camera" screen inside your helmet? And having a conventional "head" would give a supermutant something to grab hold of and squeeze OFF --- the rounded top of the armor would stop that. Just have to worry about a behemoth ripping the arms and legs off.

That said, I ~would~ prefer a more subtle built-in kind of cybernetic implants, sort of like in Ghost In The Shell or Cyberpunk 2077.

Except you would. The armor would most likely have a interactive HUD(heads up display) and you could move your head inside the armor.

Just shows that Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. Personally, I prefer the Institute not having any Power Armor since they are a bunch of scientists that are afraid of the surface. Building Giant Mechs to terrorize the surface would be more appropriate for them.
