Integrating mods into FCOM load order.

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:05 pm

Before doing some reading, just quickly, i'm wondering whether the mods Qarl's Texture Pack and Deadly Reflexes can be implemented seemlessly into the load order without affecting my game (just on the offchance). Also can anyone offer a newer / more enhanced alternative to deadly reflexes?

** Is there any adjustments i need to make in wrye bash once i've extracted the textures?

Both will have no conflicts with FCOM.
Alternatives to DR are http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/884716-relz-adrenaline-fueled-combat-v20/ and http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1086456-wipz-unnecessary-violence-ii/,

Concerning Qarl's Texture Pack III is there any adjustments i need to make in wrye bash once i've extracted the textures? Thing in the readme it details installation where OBMM is concerned which leads me to believe there's something going on here.

Would much appreciate any assistance here.

No need for adjustments etc.* I'd recommend QTPIII Redimized - and also to use BAIN or OBMM for the install.

* Except that you want archive invalidation, i.e. BSA redirection either via the UOP, OBMM or Wrye Bash, but that's needed generally for texture replacers so not an adjustment for FCOM or so.

Install QTP3 before installing FCOM, or (if using OBMM) hold down the CTRL key when prompted to overwrite, and choose "No" (for a "no to all" affect.)

Install QTP3 before installing FCOM

I suggest that you have a review at the opening post of the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1089902-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom-relz/ for texture replacer installation order.
What you quote is certainly not the FCOM Team recommendation.

You are supposed to install QTP3 before the UOP, Shikishima. I understand that recommendation for texture replacers (in general), but that does not make sense. The installation order for QTP3 and the UOP is: QTP3, QTP3R patch, UOP, QTP3+UOP patch. The UOP is installed FCOM, so QTP3 has to be installed before the UOP.

Edit: I have read FCOM's opening post.

Edit: Removed part of my upset response.

I seem to remember that as well - that QTP3 should preferably be installed before UOP, as the latter fixes some meshes. So perhaps the FCOM install order should have it added?:

Qarl's Texture Pack III (optional)
Unofficial Oblivion Patch
Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch (if applicable)
DLC's + Patches (if applicable)
Francesco's Creatures-Items 4.5
OOO version 1.33 full patched to OOO 1.34 beta5
Oblivion WarCry patched to 1.085b
Bobs Armory 1.1
Armamentarium and Armamentarium Artifacts
(optional)
Mart's Monster Mod 3.7b3
COBL (optional)
COBL Races (optional)
FCOM 9.9 + supported add-ons (add-ons optional)
Body Replacement mods (Roberts, Exnem. EVE etc)(optional)
Texture replacers (optional)

Also, if installing QTP3 after the UOP, I guess a reinstall of UOP would fix it.

Tomlong75210 is correct about the install order. This should be made much easier in the near future since all the FCOM major components will have BSA versions available, so install order will be vastly less important.

Though we may need to create a Better BSA Sorting Software.

Let's say mod A has a BSA named A.bsa and mod B has only loose files, but they both use the same resources, but different versions of the resources.
Will mod A always look to it's BSA and will mod B, who has no BSA. only look in the Data folder?
IOW, is the use of BSAs a fool proof method of assuring that a mod uses the right resources?

No, the game will use the most recently dated of identically named files (name and path), using the actual date of the loose files and the BSA date for the packed files.

However, one of the steps of creating BSAs for the FCOM mods is to alter paths, when necessary, to prevent these overlaps in files.

The FCOM BSAs will be designed to work together without errors, but you will still be able to use replacers for them if you wish.

Thanks for clarification.
However, altering file paths has the negative side effect of negating ESP-less texture replacers...

It does, yes, but there really aren't that many esp-less replacers for MMM items (where most of the changes were made) and there weren't that many changes to be made anyway. Mostly just some overlaps with OOO, as far as I know.

And those were done before the MMM.bsa was released, and I haven't heard too many complaints about mods being screwed up by it.

If such things do happen, I'm sure it will get taken care of quickly.

Nothing from FCOM will conflict with QTP itself..This issue is not fcom but UOP and QTP Meshes and Textures ..

And If going to install QTP3 First then UOP 3.2 and Hotfixes , then you have to install the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11261 after in order to get back the QTP Changes and fixes up to UOP Version 3.2.

Has the QTP UOP Compatiblity Pack is no longer maintained by anyone so it is not update to with 3.2.6 UOP Supplemental Upgrades..

Has long you install the qtq uop compatiblity pack after uop/qtp or qtp/uop then you should be fine..
