Intel HD graphic family Graphics card compatability issue

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 7:58 am

-----------------
I do not know if this issue has been reported to this form or not, but I have seen fix-walkthroughs on sites like YouTube.com. I have tried several methods and have gotten the game to load in a minimized window in the upper left of the window, and I am not able to go beyond the main menu where it asks to start a new game or load one, before it crashes. (I removed the computer system information, so it does not continue to cause confusion.) If anyone has any suggestions on how to resolve this problem I welcome any feedback, also I can provide the whole list of my system, if the Tech support will get in touch with me by E-mail which should be listed in my account's profile information.
Thanks
Kelly.

Read the minimum specs, you lazy bum:

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1549056-unofficial-will-my-pc-run-fallout-4-thread-8/

The answer is no, no your computer will not run Fallout 4, ever.

All that tech support is going to tell you is that your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements for Fallout 4. Which is true - the CPU is way below the minimum, and you don't have a graphics card. Since it's a laptop, there's no way to upgrade it. You're going to have to get a new PC to play this game.

I'm surprised you can even make it to the main menu

Sorry everyone, I accidently posted the wrong computer specs when I posted the information onto the post, I have more than one computer. The specs that I posted was for my lap top, which I KNOW will never be able to play Fallout 4. I also have a desktop that DOES meet most of the requirements. My issue focuses on the graphics card, which is still a Intel HD graphics card.

PC game + intel graphics = fail

solution: never get a computer with intel graphics especially integrated

some companies don't know when to call it a day...intel makes processors, not sure why they bother getting their hands dirty with anything else

if you disagree, i would like to know why :)

Intel HD graphics are built into the CPU. So it's not so much they are trying to stay in the graphics game. They are providing a low cost solution to an actual GPU for your average computer user or company for office work. My work PC has a somewhat dated i3 CPU but it runs 4 monitors worth of general stuff with the help of a potato GPU to allow for the extra two outputs needed for the monitors.

Intel integrated graphics aren't good for running modern games, but a lot of computers (especially business machines) aren't used for gaming. For the kinds of things they are used for (general web surfing, e-mail, running spreadsheets or word processors, etc.) integrated graphics are more than acceptable, and having an integrated graphics chipset saves the company from having to buy and install a separate graphics card in each of their computers.

And if you happen to enjoy playing older games, an Intel chipset will often run those just fine.

"DOES meet requirements"

"Intel HD graphics"

Something tells me you don't understand the requirements. Furthermore Intel doesn't even make graphics "cards". You don't have a graphics card. You have a CPU and that's it.

back in the days before graphics cards had their own interface, u know back in the day when you had a physical card that was your bus xD....i do recall having a few real basic intel graphics cards, but they would have basically been the equivalent of integrated, but that was before they put it on the MB :P

not sure if they still actually make separate cards or not, but pretty sure they did at one time

Okay well they don't make current competitive cards for gaming, how about that? They still make xeons and whatnot I believe.

I plan to upgrade my graphics card... I kind of had a feeling that the intel graphics card was not going to work... and let me say that with the expection of of the graphics card, I believe my desk top was meeting requirements in other areas. Thanks for the input. :)

Minimum
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent

Current

Windows 10 (64-bit OS) (orginally windows 8.1 (64-bit)

4th generation intel ® Core ™ i5-4460 Processor (6M Cach, up to 3.40 GHz)

1TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive

8 GB RAM (which was clearly enough because it installed fine)

The only think i'm having problems with is the graphics card.

Make sure your power supply can handle a dedicated GPU. You might have to upgrade that as well.

And then make sure your motherboard can handle that amount of power going through it... etc.

I don't think that's really an issue. The motherboard will only take what it needs. But you would want to make sure it supports whatever GPU is used.

Well, I know a crappy motherboard can bottleneck an otherwise good collection of parts so, everything is worth taking a look at.

What my desk top is, is a Dell Inspiron 3847

This PC is still under warranty

I think I'm going to just call Dell and tell them I need to upgrade the graphics card and what ever I need to upgrade to play fallout 4, pay them for what is needed and let a tech install everything. :)

Get an Nvidia card. Some people prefer Nvidia, some prefer AMD. I've used both and in my experience Nvidia have much better drivers and more impressive technology (better antialiasing, PhysX - amazing for Borderlands 2, SSAO, etc etc.).

You'll want a power supply of 5-600W. This is probably more than what you strictly need for one card, but you don't want your power supply to be running at full capacity all the time (or ever, really).

I'm running the game just fine at low resolution, Medium settings, with a Quadro K2100m card, which is not particularly good but okay for a laptop. I would suggest you get a GeForce 760, they seem to be at a good price level currently. It should let you run the game at high or medium resolution, with high details.

If you want to run the game on highest resolution and Ultra settings you'll probably want a card in the 900 series, but I think those are overpriced at the moment.

While you're at it, check to see if you can install a fan in your computer case. Fans keep the components cool and make them last longer. Make it blow inwards, not svck air out of the case (you want there to be a higher pressure inside the case to keep dust from flowing in), and make sure the fan has a dust filter.

To the OP, please, just go buy a console, don't waste any more money on your PC, you will be much happier with a console. It will work with every game released for it, every time.

Honestly, your posts, really speak for themselves on this.

~£300 for a PS4/Xbox One and Fallout 4, which is what you'd spend on a decent GPU and power supply. I'd go for that to. Based on your posts.
