Intelligent Deathclaws?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:08 am

Remember the intelligent Deatclaws that lived in the remains of Vault 13 in the NCR of FO2? If the Enclave made them with FEV in order to make them a more controllable killing machine, how come the D.C. Enclave of Raven Rock and Adams AFB didn't try it? I guess they thought the Deathclaw mind control helmet was a better idea. Come to think of it, the Enclave ended up purging all the intelligent Deathclaws because they saw them as a successful failure, they hated what the Enclave stood for and were looked upon as another mutation to be wiped out. It was a scientist (which I promptly kill when I first met him to get the good ending thank to the patch and to get K-9) saw intelligent Deathclaws as a danger to the Enclave force. I don't think the other Enclave care at all unless that scientist told the rest of the Enclave about the experiment. Anyways, think about it; an intelligent creature that can swiftly kill any humans in mere seconds. With intelligent, they can use strategy and tactics in combat. That particular scientist know they are getting too smart to their liking, and thus, consider a danger to the Enclaves.

Why they did not recreate these guys? I assume along the line that the Chosen One did kill the the man who pretty much knows how to make these Deathclaw smart in the first place. That, or that man lives, purge the intelligent Deathclaws of Vault 13, and then Enclave (starting from the bottom) try to recreate that experiment again, and not "fail".

I assume the plan was abandoned and Enclave developed the mind control devices which appear to be more reliable (until BoS gained the technological upper hand).

why not combine the two tecniques (spelling :D)?
i mean, intelligent deathclaw that can use tactics and be smart in a fight, controlled by the enclave via the helmet.
enclave do not risk the DCs revolting, and they get smart killing maskines!

Dumb and smart deathclaw are the same when under mind control.

And the Deathclaws could have thought up some sort of jam for the mind control, like the BS.

Plus, there's a lot to be said about willpower. You'd get a couple here and there that would be able to overcome the mind control, just as you get a super mutant here and there that can survive being transformed. It might be a risk they're not willing to take considering there's a whole hell of a lot less Deathclaws. (Which begs the question: why don't they ever try it with super mutants.. they're probably as willful as Deathclaws and, let's face it, of similar intelligence).

Super mutants have speach aswel, this also shows that they're not very intelligent. The Deathclaw on the other hand can not speak, this determines how do we know that they are not smart. Who knows, they may be very cunning and can communicate with other Deathclaws.

There's other ways to test intelligence. Monkeys can't speak, but we can test their intelligence. Also, there was at least one group of Deathclaws who could speak.

Well being that the intelligent deathclaw project failed, it would not make any sense to bother with another attempt, especially since the average Enclave infanteer far outclassed everything else in the wasteland.

Why do I have that mental image of the "clever Gremlin" in Gremlins 2? :D

But the Intelligent Deathclaws abhorred violence if you ever talked to their leader in FO2 in length. Think of civilized velociraptors/Dinobot from Beast Wars and you have the intelligent Deathclaws. I wanted to see where that went if they survived. Stupid genocidal Enclave... It also makes me think of poor Marcus and his civilized mutie bretheren. Even the NCR didn't want them around even when they could mine uranium for all their equipment without getting radiation poisoning. For as much progress as the Vault Dwellers bring about in the world, other factions always screw it up. I bet the BOS would send Gallows to kill Fawkes when they tire of his existence...

No I am fine. No worries. It is Xarn and Gruther and Mom and all of my siblings that died. My quest for revenge has cost me dearly, I have become ghoulified and half crazed in my journeys but I am still alive so no worries.
