Interesting RP builds.

Post your quirky interesting RP character builds. Some people think that intentionally short-changing your character is self-gimping, but that is not the case here. Self-gimping is when you limit your character to increase difficulty. Here we limit our character to fit a certain RP theme.

Here's a couple of guys to start you off:

Nord Hunter
Race: Nord.
Alignment: Chaotic good.
Perk trees: archery, two-handed (swords), block, speechcraft (from trading meat and hides).
Companion: dog.
Quirkiness: only wears furs.
Gameplay: relies on his faithful dog to keep monsters distracted, but if any get through, he can swing a mighty sword like few others. As he improves his archery, he will kite more and rely less on his sword, to avoid getting demolished in melee due to his lack of armor.
Story: after the harrowing ordeal in the intro, he decides to abandon his neutral, nomadic life, join the Stormcloaks, and help rid Skyrim of all its enemies.

Jester
Race: Argonian.
Alignment: Chaotic neutral.
Perk trees: destruction, illusion, sneak, pickpocket.
Companion: none.
Quirkiness: known to cast Frenzy in inns and other public places for his own amusemant.
Gameplay: sneaky spellslinger. In the early game, relies on illusion spells to keep monsters off his back. Once he gets quiet casting, nothing will stand in his way.
Story: this mad lizard's shenanigans and penchant for larceny got him in trouble with the wrong crowd. He fled to the most remote region of Tamriel possible, but was captured soon after crossing the border into Skyrim. Those who mistake him for a fool capable only of cheap parlor tricks will quickly learn their mistake, before being turned to cinders.

I like your style!

I'm currently playing:
Dark Brotherhood Emissary
Race: Dunmer
Alignment: Chaotic neutral
Perk trees: Sneak, One Handed, Archery, Alchemy
Companion: None
Quirkiness: Shuns use of a shield in favour of mobility in combat (not sure if this has any impact on game mechanics but I don't care!) Finds a shady patch of woodland to change out of shrouded armor before going into civilised areas so as not to be noticed.
Gameplay: Assassin who can still go toe-to-toe when necessary. No points in magicka; only spell is Soul Trap, which weighs in at a handy 94 ;)
Story: The last remaining Dark Brotherhood assassin in Cyrodiil, Drelas fled to Skyrim in seek of the northern chapter of the Brotherhood. However, due to rife treachery in Cyrodiil's chapters, Drelas must pose as a new recruit.

The Vampire

Race: Any (In my case it was Nord)
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Perk Trees: Light Armor, Sneak, Illusion, Lockpick
Companion: None
Quirkiness: Vampire Blood causing him to transform into a killer once a night. If he doesn't feed, the blood consumes him and he dies.
Gameplay: Stealthy entry into people's homes. He seeks out targets at taverns and inns. When he finds a likely target he stalks them to their homes. Like a spectre, he watches as his victims ready themselves for sleep. Then he strikes, killing them and feasting on their blood. He then leaves a calling card, a sprig of lavender, on his victim's corpses.

Mine are much more basic, but here goes.

The Bulwark
Race: Orc
"A young orc so proud and sure of his armor smithing skills that he refuses to use weapons. He travels Skyrim in search of new materials and master smiths to hone his craft."

Dragonborn
Race: Nord
"Nord that only uses the Dragonborn gear seen in the trailer and adverts. Iron helm, gloves, boots, studded leather, steel sword, steel dagger, banded iron shield."

Paladin

Race: Breton
Alignment: Lawful Good
Perk Trees: Heavy Armor, Block, One Handed Weapons, Restoration, Alteration, Speech
Companion: None
Quirkiness: Will not take anything that is not in a chest in a dungeon (will not loot coffers, rummage through barrels, nor take any items that are laying around even if marked as Take). As quickly as possible goes out to get Dawnbreaker and Spellbreaker. Will not undergo any evil quest, will never begin the Dovahkiin questline.
Story: Had a vision of the return of the Dragon Princes, and has ventured forth to cleanse their taint from the land.

Master Thief

Race: Khajiit
Alignment: True Neutral
Perk Trees: Sneak, Pickpocket, Speech, Illusion
Companion: None
Quirkiness: Does not kill. Uses Illusion to distract enemies (does not use Frenzy). Will not take any quest that requires killing a target. Will not begin the Dovahkiin questline.
Story: Thief sets out to make a name for himself, to rival that of even Rajhin, but will absolutely, under no circumstances, kill anything.

I'm playing -

Battle Mage Wanderer -

Race: Dark Elf
Perk Trees: Destruction, Conjuration, Restoration, Alteration, One Handed, light armour (only uses gauntlets and boots)
Companions: none, except horse
Quirkiness: doesn't ever steal, doesn't use illusion or necromancy, given to random rage driven murders when apalled by severe injustice
story/gameplay: spent his younger years wandering the desecrated wastelands of morrowind, after being born into a refugee train as an orphan. Travels very light (never about 100, usually around 30), and Is given to long wanderings, pursuing anything that may further his knowledge of the world and the arcane. While given to emotionally charged acts of violence in extreme circumstances, he is unable to refuse those in need.

Sam Presbin, Battle Mage

Race: Breton
Alignment: Lawful Good
Perk Trees: Light Armor, Sneak, Destruction, Restoration, Archery (she took it up to keep in shape) and occasional one handed (she tries not to get up close and personal), lock picking because she can't resist loot.
Companion: Marcurio, Riften Mercenary Mage because he's so cool and not a bad looker either
Quirkiness: She loves to sneak and watch mammoths and giants, they amaze her and she loves to go up to Thalmors and guards who are accompanying prisoners just because it bugs them.
Gameplay: She was heading to the College at Winterhold to attend when she ended up crossing the border at the wrong time. The Legion guards didn't care that she had the proper papers to cross the border from the Cyrodil mages college. She said a few words about haunting the beoch who wanted her head before she was led to the chopping block and saved by the dragon attack. Hadvar helped her escape and showed her that not all legion soldiers were @sses. After she helped Whiterun, she headed to Riften to pick up the Amulet of Mara all the single women in Whiterun were talking and headed into the Bee and Barb for a good nights sleep and ended up eying Marcurio who was obviously a mage (dressed in mage robes). She got up the nerve to talk to him and found out he was a sword for hire. She just happened to have the 500 gold and they've been traveling since. She likes to talk to people and ends up getting roped into doing quests for them. She can't help but to help them.

Adventurer-scholar (Think Indiana Jones) and former Mages' Guild member.

Alignment: True Neutral
Race: Breton
Skill Focus: Sneak, Lockpicking, Conjuration, Illusion, Restoration, Archery, Alchemy, Enchantment, and either one or both of Light Armor or Alteration. (Alteration is more "typical mage", but I like being a less typical mage, myself)
Followers: Marcurio, or some other research-related follower
Quirks: No undead or necormantic conjuration (that's banned in official scholastic circles of mages), but atronachs are acceptable. As a scholar with an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a slight anti-social streak, no ruin is too dangerous, no library off limits, no dark arcane secret too horrible for you to stick your nose where it doesn't belong. Take any quest that has to do with magical research or dwemer ruins. Explore any such ruins you find even without such quests. Hoard artifacts - melting down or selling dwemer or draugr relics is abhorrent to a scholar, although non-historical enchanted goods are ripe for destruction because you MUST learn every form of enchantable spell. Buy one of every spellbook. Buy every lorebook, and read all of them.

Fill every bookcase in your home with books, and start stacking piles of them around the house, as well. Decorate with books, and the occasional troll skull or random artifact you forgot to put away after a full-night study session. Make sure your home has only a narrow walkway you can traverse in the midst of walls of books and ancient priceless artifacts carelessly strewn to the roof.

Find and sample every ingredient for your potions. Collect every sample of ingredients you can reasonably take home. You aren't playing it right if you don't have 100 lbs of luna moth wings in your inventory next to a worthless ancient nord axe or linen wrapping (to study the differences in fiber weaving over centuries) so that you can't carry the things you practically need.

========

I'm currently playing:
Dark Brotherhood Emissary
Alignment: Chaotic neutral

I'm sorry, but there's no such thing as a "neutral" Dark Brotherhood alignment. Murder for fun or service to a dark deity of pure destruction is categorically evil.

Even if you say "it's for some god that makes murder OK," I would point out that any god of murder and torture would also be classified as unequivocally some variation of evil (almost certainly Chaotic Evil in Sithis's case), and as such service to Sithis is automatically evil.

Nord Swordsman/Thief
Race: Nord.
Alignment: Chaotic.
Perk trees: Sneak, One Handed so far. Later: Light Armor, Block.
Companion: None yet. Maybe a dog later.
Quirkiness: Thieves guild armor only.
Gameplay: Relies on stealth. Back stab is most effective killing method. Is not yet a capable stand up combatant. Uses poisons to win fights. Stays light - weight is under 90 at all times (usually 70-85, sometimes under 60). Uses very limited magic: healing and later illusion.

I'm sorry officer, what's your badge number?

I'm kind of in between characters at the moment. My DID hunter just took a beating from some Saber Cats, so he's out of commission.

I'm thinking of making a swindling bard/magician next. Speechcraft, Illusion, Alteration and maybe some light armor. His goal is to make as much profit with as little investment as possible.

I'm playing:

Name: Nicodemus Nesta
Race: Imperial
Personality: Cruel, merciless, selfish
Perk trees: One-handed, speech, smithing, light armor, sneak
Companions:none so far
Guilds:none so far, will join DB
Gameplay:
-on way to Solitude to join the Legion and fight the Stormlcloaks. He's fanatically loyal to the Empire and will do everything to help restore it's former glory
-sees Imperial race as the only pure race, dislikes other races, especially Nords and despises beast-races
-mostly accepts quests only from Imperial people, wealthy people or those quests that may benefit him (like getting a nice reward for the quest)
-once he joins the Legion may perform several acts of justice on his own, "in the name of the Empire"
-despises Thieves Guild, bandits and partially Thalmor
Backstory:
It's rather long in my word document  , but I'll rephrase it in few sentences. He was a high-ranking Imperial officer in the Imperial City, but alse one of the most feared and cruel officers. He also performed undercover in Hammerfell, High Rock and Blackmarsh to spy for Empire's enemies and in recent years was a "successful" interrogator for enemies of the Empire. His lover was Livianna, a high-ranking DB assassin and together they plotted against those that Nesta couldn't arrest because of the lack of evidence, against those that knew too much about his methods in the army and against those that may be dangerous to them.Their scheme was found out by Nesta's right hand man, a Nordic officer and he turned them in. Nesta was arrested, his ranks were stripped off and his lover revenged him by killing Nordic officer but she was caught at the scene of crime by Imperial soldiers and killed on the spot.Nesta spent some time in jail (about two months) but thanks to his influential friends and good merits for the Empire from the past he wasn't executed but exiled forever from Cyrodiil. His (once) fellow soldiers left him at the border of Skyrim where he was then arrested for crossing it.Although Imperials tried to kill him in Skyrim, he remains loyal to them, because he doesn't find them guilty for his punishement, nor did they know anything about his deeds from Cyrodiil.

The clue is in the 'chaotic' part, Sherriff. Did you stop to think that perhaps my character will also be completing the main questline, thus saving Skyrim from the dreadful Alduin? Or that he might already have fetched the white phial for Nurelion, or been otherwise helpful to NPCs? My character is not righteous, nor malicious. Thus he is neutral.

Just started a new character.

Name: Ja'Suuhr
Race: Khajiit
Alignment: Neutral/Good
Perk Trees: Speech, Heavy Armor, Alteration, (Smithing, Enchanting, Restoration)
Companions: Definitely, haven't decided who though
Quirkiness: Will try to stick with no fast travel, exception being the carriages outside the citys
Gameplay: I'm making a Khajiit trader who will not primarily be combat/quest-focused, but rather seeking wealth and being an economic power in Skyrim (at least as long as I find it enjoyable, if I even do :D). He will rely on his paws to bring down foes that may attack him om his travels between citys (hence Heavy Armor because of the Fists of Steel perk). Since I've just started with the character I'm still unsure as to go full heavy armor or just gauntlets and alteration for protection. I will have to level smithing and improving my gauntlets to make H2H viable in combat scenarios (I think). Since I'm kinda uncertain as how to build my khajiit trader my initial plans might shift. We'll see.
Backstory: Born in a small tribe in the northern parts of Elsweyr under the waxing Masser phase and full Secunda phase, making him a cathay type of breed. Ja'Suuhr didn't like the nomadic way of life, but dreamed of wealth and so wanted to go to the more civilized southern parts of Elsweyr and become a trader. One day his tribe came under attack of a rivalizing tribe. Caos ensued. His mother and many others in his tribe was killed. Ja'Suuhr himself only barely escaped. Having fled north, he found himself in Cyrodiil. Struggling with life there he joined a khajiit trading caravan and quickly developed a sharp tounge and a talent for trading. Having heard tales about treasures in the north, he decided to join a caravan headed for Skyrim. Just south of the Skyrim border his caravan was attacked by a pack of wolves. Dealing with this threat he became seperated from the caravan as they would not aid him but instead ran away. Finding himself alone again, and so close to the Skyrim border he hesitantly continued north, crossing the border.

Going to Start:

Barbarian/Archer
Name: Raabin Uud
Race: Bosmer or Nord
Personality: Self sufficient, lives off land - neutral does not care about the greater happenings in the world.
Perk Trees: Two Handed, Archery, Light Armor, Smithing, Alchemy, Sneak
Companions: None
Guilds: TBD
Gameplay: Focus on Two-handed Greatsword with high proficiency in Archery. Uses only light armor (leather or studded to look the part). Smiths weapons and potions/poisons to survive. Basically he grew up completly secluded and out of contact with civilization and had to learn how to live off the land to stay alive. Believes all magic is witchcraft and evil, thus he either avoids or hunts down mages to rid the world of their taint. Has become a master at smithing and potions because until now he has never been able to buy a weapon or food (and may not buy them now). If Bosmer, has become one with nature and can command animals to do his bidding/fighting. Since he has lived in the savage wastelands, he has become a master of camoflauge and can blend in perfectly with his environment (sneak). Is thrust into his current role as a savior of mankind after being captured while hunting giants.

Spoiler
I am Dragen, a Nord.
Me and my Dad lost a beloved member of the family when i was just a kid, my Mother.. My father was a Farmer and a good Hunter, i always helped him harvesting the crops and hunting with him.
We were very happy, living just us two and our Dog Rufus. Ah, how good that times were.. Every night we used to sat in front of the fireplace and tell some old tales and some jokes, laughing and eating a delicious food my father cooked for us.
When i was 16 my father recieved a letter of some Imperials threatening him, saying that if my father don't go to Cyrodiil immediately, they would come for him. So he left, and went to Cyrodiil. He called one Friend to stay with me for a while, Lurik. Then it was now just me, Lurik and Rufus. I was worried on what could happen to my Father, but Lurik always said to me that all is going to be fine.
2 years has passed, and i was 18 years old. My father didn't have come back, Lurik needed to go back to his family. I was independent, just me and Rufus. We went hunting, me and Rufus catched a few rabbits and some Deer. The sun was going down, almost night, we were going home when suddenly i heard a wolf howling, i pull out my Sword and start looking around. When i turned back i saw that Wolf coming for me and then Rufus defended me. He got wounded but still able to walk and still strong. Suddenly i pack o 4 Wolves came in our direction, we couldn't run, so we took a deep breath and faced the wolves with courage. I managed to kill 2 of them, Rufus managed to kill 1, but when i looked behind me, i saw that last Wolf, killing Rufus... It was terrible ! I managed to kill that last Wolf, but Rufus.. that poor Dog, didn't managed to survive... He was brave and strong, my friend since i was just 5 years old.. I lost another beloved family member.. That night, i got a Scar in my face by one of the Wolves.
Lots of years had passed, i was 29 years old, i was trying to live my life in peace, but i couldn't make my mind forget about the night my father went to Cyrodiil, and the night Rufus died. Going to Falkreath one courier stopped me and gave me a Letter, it had been written by some of my father's contacts or friends in Cyrodiil.. It was written that my Father, my dad, died... When i read that i was so sad but at the same time so angry that i went back to my House, bagged my stuff, picked up my bow and my sword and making my way to Cyrodiil. The letter also said where i could find my Father's friend in Cyrodiil.. I've lost all my closest family memeber, my beloved ones.. My Mother, Rufus and now, My Father.. Consumed by anger i went right away to Cyrodiil, no one could stop me, i was going to discover why my father died ! But, when i was crossing the border, i got ambushed by a group of Imperial Legions... They took my stuff, and put me into a Carriage... Tired and Wounded i woke up and there was, in my front, Ralof.. a good man, he started to talk with me, and then i saw Ulfric Stormcloak on my right.. We were going to Helgen to be executed.. But, when we reach there, when i was almost being executed, a Dragon appeared ! It started attacking and destroying everything in his front.. but luckily me and Ralof managed to escape togheter.. I met his sister Gerdur, a good woman.
Now, i'm 30 years old and what is the most Strange of all ? I discovered that I am a Dragonborn. A simple man turns out to be Dragonborn ! I was no one before that... Now, i'm in Ivarstead. The Graybeards summoned me, tomorrow i'll be climbing the 7.000 steps to High Hrothgar.. Now the destiny of Skyrim it's in my hands ! I am Dovahkiin and i will not fail !

My name name is Dragen, and that's my story.

Return to V - Skyrim
