Interesting discovery

Hi!

I was just browsing my Morrowind DVD - t is Polish edition, it also has all resources unpacked on the DVD, including these form expansions. So I navigated to Data Files\BookArt foler and found daedric_runes.ttf and opened it. What have I found there? Standard Daedric runes, Arenda, Daggerfall, Battlespire, REdguard adn Morrowind black&white logos, but also... Argonia logo! O_o

Here's the screenshot:

I've installed that font in C:\Widnows\font and launched OpenOffice Writer, then selected that font and found the logos under numbers, Argonia is 0. Here's larger screen:

I believe the writing (if Minamir's expansion is correct) says:

"And a Herm from Haermt will save them."*

Haermt is obviously a place that was never implemented. I recognise the word "Herm" from something but all I can think of are the Hernes from Battlespire, and the word doesn't come up on a search of UESPWiki so either I'm thinking of something from somewhere else or it's something to do with Hermaeus Mora.

*I guessed on some of those letters, but they're at least close.

Then this could make http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/24996643/secret-argonian-city a reality could it not?

The last post in that thread is someone that says they found it... I think this is all worth a look into.

The secret Argonian city is nothing more than a hoax. We have the Construction Set, we can check out all the places in the game. If it really existed it would have been common knowledge for years now.

It's interesting that Beth was planning Argonia. But it may have something to do with the "Eye of Argonia" which was supposed to be a sequel to Redguard, but got canceled because Redguard wasn't succesful enough.

"And a Herm from Haermt will save them."*

Hermit? A single main characer like in Redguard the game, an Argonian hermit perhaps? I don't think it has anything to do with hermeneutics philosophy nor Telvanni Hermitages in Morrowind. :P "A Herm" might also be a nationality. Like he is a Herm because he's from Haermt or something. Or that he is part of a Hermaeus Mora cult or some other worshipper. Oh well, endless chances. It's supposed to be a riddle, and we are likely never getting the tools to solve it.

Lol, forget that. The word is "A Hero".

"AND A HERO FROM HAEROT WILL SAVE THEM", in my opinion. Still no UESP hits for Haerot, though. Somebody up for leafing through their Black Marsh maps? :D

Oooh, good call, that does look like an oht. I still think Haerot is a place that only would've been implemented in that game if they'd gotten around to it, so I doubt leafing through anything is going to help. Shame...

I believe that font actually pre-dated the release of Morrowind, and was made by a fan (Adam Pyle, AKA Scribe of Black Marsh). Exactly why they chose to include it with the game I don't know, but it does mean the Argonia logo may not be official. Probably not in fact, I'd say.
