Interesting fights with Dragons

Post » Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:50 pm

I'm not sure who else has played Dragon Age but I hope that in Skyrim they make fighting dragons more interesting. In DA:Origins the dragons were in a predetermined location and didn't really fly around. They only flew to say another side of a plateau. Don't get me wrong, fighting a dragon is pretty awesome no matter what but I hope they make encounters with these beasts even more exciting. I saw a screenshot of a dragon flying above the PC, which would maybe allow for some deadly fire breathing attacks on you from the sky. Also I hope there are more then 3 dragons. I wonder what the finishing move on a dragon will be...

I am hoping that you can talk with the dragons before you fight them. You know, to get in some good trash-talk before the fight. That would be awesome. It would also give the individual dragons more character and show them to be the intelligent beings that they are in the Elder Scrolls universe.

Well Dragon Age had an entirely different combat system, which is why Dragons were fought in such a way in that game.

Pretty sure i heard there was a significant number of dragons. i want to say 12 but I just can't remember.

Anyway I'd love to see each dragon have a different weakness that you would have to figure out.

that is true, plus DA is a linear RPG and the dragons couldn't really go very far.

I kind of thing that dragons will start to pop out like oblivion gates.
At first there will be one that the battle against him will come throught advancment on the main quest.
Then more dragons will come out more often.
And as with Oblivion Gates, each one will require a long battle.

I want an intense battle with a dragon with lots of options on how to handle the situation. For instance, a dragon is attacking one of the major cities. you can use a mounted ballista nearby BUT you could also climb to a high enough point and draw the dragons attention. Once the dragon gets close enough you could leap on it's back and start dealing damage. You could shoot it out of the sky with high level magic or somehow cripple it's wings, grounding it for awhile and deal with it that way or a combanation of all of those!

Yeah, all the fights were very much scripted encounters, and on top of that character mobility was restricted.

It would be awesome if the dragons talked to you, unless they were voiced by sean Connery

If they were voiced by Sean Connery they'd just be trying to get you in bed.
