Internet Explorer 9 Issues

Post » Fri Sep 17, 2010 12:01 am

Not quite sure where to report this, so trying here.

I have found some issues with the forum when using Internet Explorer 9...

Drop down menu does not work properly
If I click on my name, the menu flashes up and then I am taken to my profile page.

If I switch to compatibility mode, the drop down menu works, but there are some formatting anomalies. Some of the text gets displayed on top of the forum menu bar (eg the avatar picture and quoted text, etc

I hope this information is useful.

You're using unfinished software so the bugs are to be expected.

Well first off, you should be using Chrome or FireFox.

Secondly, since this is the first im hearing if IE9, im guessing its new, so its probably just a bug, so sit tight and wait out the patches.

Actually IE9 is very promising. It has HTML5 support, hardware-accelerated graphics and gets 95/100 on the Acid3 test.

I'm not saying you should change, I use Chrome as well, I'm just saying that IE bashing is a thing of the past (at least it will be when IE9 gets a proper release)

Thanks for the comments and feedback

I am aware that IE9 is at RC status - just thought it was worth highlighting in case it is an HTML5 issue - so this was an early warning.

BTW, IE9's default interface is very minimal :)

Just wanted to let you know that the problems still happen on the released version of IE9.

Compatibility mode resolves this issue, but still has the anomalies highloghted in my original post.

I made a post something like this a few weeks ago. Now I wish I never downloaded it. The bad doesn't out weigh the good.

IE9 is gold (retail release) status. A number of site do have "bugs". Compatiblity mode does fix the problem, however this basically makes IE9... IE8 so rendering accuracy goes out the window.

Who the hell uses IE anymore if they are at all serious about browsing and such.

Personally I use Opera.
