if Interplay gets Fallout franchise

Say something happens and Interplay wins the lawsuit, and Beth only has right to make 3 Fallout games. Do you think Interplay'll make Fallout 6 as good as Bethesda's? I doubt it.

Depends on alot of things. Frankly I thought gamesas dropped the ball big time on FO3. they just bad a TES clone and threw away everything from the originals gameplay and mechanics.

Don't see a rule about it. Probably a 0.002% chance of it ever happening, so speaking hypothetically. Anyways...

Most of the FO1 and FO2 devs went to Obsidian right? Interplay is just publisher and not developer company?

By gameplay mechanics, do you mean because FO3 was 3D while the previous games were 2D? Not that I really see a TES clone as a bad thing, since TES/F3-style gameplay appeals to me as a gamer.

EDIT: I suppose this is getting off-topic. There are other threads for that issue, so I won't go on F3 gameplay.

I see them doing what Blizzard did with Warcraft.

Get an amazing series, and turn it into an MMO. And then only ever make expansion packs for that MMO. No more real games set in that world.

3D an 2D are not factors in this. The original Fallout 3 was going to be 3D and would've still maintained the aspects in the core of the series gameplay (RPG mechanics, map-node system, higher focus on writing and storytelling, TB combat - also including realtime combat).

I don't think Interplay can, in its current state and management, do any better than Beth with Fallout 3... although, I do have a neutral stance since Interplays game would like be different from what Beth does (aka, not a TES clone - as Fallout is, afterall, Fallout and not TES).

Anyway, as the lawsuit is ongoing, and threads discussing it have all been locked so far (not sure if policies have changed since the last thread).

Considering that Interplay at last check was still hemoragging money (Didn't the legal situation arise because one of the things they failed to do for the MMO was raise a certain amount of funds?) I doubt Interplay would really be able to do anything with the rights if they got them. We may end up with Brotherhood of Steel 2.

Last I looked, other than a Fallout MMO their plans for new games were all sequels to classic (ie: Very old series) such as Earthworm Jim, Clayfighters and MDK. Clearly they saw how well Fallout 3 did at reviving interest in the old games and decided thats their new plan.

Make a new game based on an old one = revive interest in old ones = sell old ones.

Discussions involving on-going lawsuits are not up for discussion on these forums.
