What gamesas games were made into novels? I've got the three Descent books, but was wondering if there was anything else.

Mel Odom was supposed to write a Fallout novel, but the deal with the book publisher fell through.

Stonekeep had a novella in the package.

Bard's Tale had a few novels, most by Mercedes Lackey, IIRC.

A novel based on Planescape:Torment written by Ray and Valeire Vallaise is still available used on Amazon although I've not read it as the reviews are pretty underwhelming. A pity given the richness of the Planescape universe.

There is a novelization of P:T available that I won't link to since I'm unsure of its legality but a simple Google search will turn it up. This I *highly* recommend. The novelization goes a long way in demonstrating how much skill went into crafting the P:T storyline. As much as I love the Planescape universe, it's so massive it can be a bit unwieldy - something that is not, in my opinion, evident when playing through the game.

Awww MAN! I have been wishing for some Fallout novels ever since FO1. Do you think we will ever see a any novels in the FO universe? Please say yes!! Is that something that Bethesda now controls?

It would be something that Bethesda would have to arrange.

I know one person that approached them about it and they weren't interested (they were interested in an Elder Scrolls one, though). The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Fallout Online * Fallout IRC Channel * Fallout: New Vegas

The question was:

What you've just said is the reverse of the first statement. So, no, it doesn't count.

EDIT: For clarity. A massive thank you to EA for:
- Producing great quality games time and time again
- Providing excellent technical support
- Never destroying any highly acclaimed studios for profit
- Never ripping people off
- Never wasting people's time

Man, that's so typical. I mean at least do one novel and see how it sells. I don't get this, you buy a license like this and you don't develop it.....sigh.

I've got a feeling they want total control over the liscence. Or it might be because it's a newly purchased liscence and hence they are still clearing up legal work.

Alternatively it might be because the offer by the author was unreasonable, or they simply were not interested in a Fallout novel at that time. A massive thank you to EA for:

Well, the author's offer was not unreasonable - otherwise they wouldn't ask him about writing an Elder Scrolls novel instead. The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Fallout Online * Fallout IRC Channel * Fallout: New Vegas

Not necessarily; the author's offer may have been unreasonable if they did not consider the Fallout franchise to be as popular a franchise as the Elder Scrolls. They might not have been willing to risk money on a book for Fallout under those conditions, but they would accept those conditions for a book under the Elder Scrolls as they have more faith in that series.
