Interracial Children-how does it work

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 9:53 am

Okay, so, assuming that the Dovahkiin can marry anyone regardless of race, and he is physically able to have kids (not in game, but after s/he is done adventuring,) what race would the children be in an interracial marriage? I don't see any Nordperials or Darkguards. Would it be based on gender? Like if a male nord would only have nord sons, but his daugters could be of any race. I was just wondering, because I thought it would be cool the Dovahkiin's grandfather was the Champion of Cyrodiil and a descendent of Nereverine, Agent, and Eternal Champion, even though they span four different races, (again, this is in my TES tale, not offical lore)

Basically, the offspring inherits the mother's race, with some traits of the father's. http://imperial-library.info/content/racial-phylogeny is the premier source.

In the Elder Scrolls universe, interracial marriages almost always end up with the child gaining most, if not all, of their traits from the mother.

Not sure where the source is for this. I believe it's one of the in-game books. Someone else should be able to find it. (edit: Someone like Lady N, who also ninja'd me :ninja:)

"Master Hlurunan, I have traveled very far to this land Cathnoquey to call on your wisdom - over mountain, tundra, ashland, and stormy seas. I've drained my inheritance, suffered freezing, starvation, shipwreck, cannibal spears, ashstorms, guar bite in pursuit of your wisdom."

"Eh?"

"Yes, Master. I wanted to ask you: If a Breton lad and a Dunmer lady know each other, what shall their child b- Ouch! Why did you strike me just now! That smarts!"

"Because, you fool, you could have easily consulted the Bar of Inquiry before coming so far and risking so much!"

Everyone is human. There are no races. Imperialists are morons. Anyone who names a race "Imperial" is picking posies in a minefield.

Indeed. My Dovahkiin is a Cyrodiil. He take considerable offence at being called the "I" word.

You're probably right, but I did at least try to find the answer online before coming here. But I've never heard of the Bar of Inquiry before. Sorry :shrugs:

I think it was some roundabout way of saying you need to use the search bar or something
