Also another interview with delaney that is older that was very funny (some show)
...yyyyeah, maybe if you provided links, that would be great.
OP, you do need to link, but I am sure I've found it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGnCrgw9BU0
I watched the GameTrailers one some weeks back and I have to say, if I were ever forced to have a voiced protagonist be it against my will or not, I surely don't mind Brian T. Delaney being the one to do it. Regardless, voice acting is something I'm personally interested in so it's always nice to hear from their experiences, even more so when it involves Fallout.
I think they picked good voice actors for both protagonist.
I'm just waiting to hear more from Courtney, as she hasn't been represented as much in the trailers, plus I plan on playing a female character on my first play through. I hope next weeks podcast has her with Matty and Lone.
Maybe they're worried about letting the Katniss out of the bag... I really think she will be one bad#ss Sole Survivor!
Oh, and yes there is a crossbow, which is close enough!
I have a feeling she will represent better than Delaney for FO4's protagonist (she did Subject Zero well in ME2 and it is more of the writers to blame that made Jack a meh in ME3, except the Citadel DLC, she rocked), but for Delaney I think he will be better voice than Meer did ME1 and ME2 at least... we'll see.
If this is the Mr. Matty thing here are some of the highlights (taken from Reddit):
Female protagonist's voice is 'sixy, badass, and motherly.'
Dialogue options are very 'nuanced.' The same action (i.e lying to someone) can be different based on how it's said. For example, lying to someone to avoid hurting their feelings vs. lying to someone because you're a manipulative jerkface [censored]face.
Brian dropped hints about the existence of Fallout 4 almost a year before it was announced on his twitter. 'I wish my wife would understand that blowing away ghouls is an occuptational hazard.'
They've worked hard on avoiding LA Noire type situations where the response doesn't match with the dialogue option and 'comes out of nowhere.'
Protagonist's dialogue is just a 'fraction' of the number of overall lines of dialogue in the game.
There was always a developer present or on the phone during voice recording to provide game context.
Dialogue is very grounded. It always makes sense within the context of the world and situations the player's in.
Brian T. Delaney's wife has a thing for Australian accents.
Brian only met the voice of the female protagonist a year and a half into voice recording.
The story's going to be very emotional. Brian talks about how much he liked Last of Us and how that game ushered in a new level of storytelling in games - something that Bethesda's now trying their hand at.
Bethesda trying to emulate Naughty Dog has got me a little #uwotm8.
I actually thing that playing as either of them will be amazing, just based on what we've heard so far, and also how the devs seem to have taken the sound design in general to a whole new level. Replay value takes on a whole new meaning!
EDIT: @Fredward, nice one for posting up the list.
Damn, they're going all out on this aren't they? I did enjoy The Last of Us, and...
And now I have a new crackpot theory. We find some kid in the Wastes and he/she becomes our surrogate child until we find Shaun.
NORA/HOWARD: "It's all about finding something to fight for." *points at wedding ring* "Never give up. In your darkest hour, remember what you're fighting for and keep on. Understand?"
CHILD:
SHAUN: "I'm right here, moron!!"
I felt kind of bad for him hearing him talk about how he was going to blow up after landing such a major role. How he was going to be this over night sensation.
Listening to this interview has put most of my worries about the voice acting to rest. I feel mostly optimistic about what I will eventually experience...
Amazing Interview I have no concerns at all about Voiced Protagonist, Bethesda take my money now.
He sounds very awesome. The whole Voice Actor side of acting is a very unseen and unknown part of the acting profession. A Guy I went to school with was a voice over guy for Commercials and sometimes he would get recognised in a store due to his voice (but more than often not). With the absolute Plethora of games coming out nowadays, there is a LOT of opportunities for Voice actors from bit parts in games, to redubs of Japanese games.
One of my favorites if Elias Touffexis. Hes an actor that has appeared in a fair few tv shows as bit characters and on quite a few games (and probably best known as Jensen in the latest Deus Ex games) . He has an incredible range and has the ability to put a lot of inflection in what he says to bring across emotion.
