Interview with a Vampire reboot

Post » Wed May 11, 2016 5:20 pm

So apparently there's going to be a reboot of Interview. As of right now it is looking like Jared Leto will be Lestat. Thoughts?

Another reboot? I thought the original was okay, nothing major.

I love the song they chose for the radio in that scene. Fits Lestat so well.

It seems a pointless and lazy reboot to me. Neil Jordan is one of my favourite directors and he did an excellent job - if they want to work with Anne Rice's stories why not adapt one of her other novels?

There's loads of other vampire films I'd like to see made:

Daybreakers seems worth a sequel. It was an interesting premise, a world of vampires and few humans.

An Underworld film set in the past (not the middle ages, maybe the Victorian era) with Selene and Viktor with a (good) new story - not about lycans, some new antagonists. They need some good script writers though, Awakenings was crap.

A sequel to We Are The Night could be good, just so long as it's by the same German production team. Continuing the story of Lena and Tom.

It's been a while since Sheridan Le Fanu's Carmilla has been adapted. I'd like to see something along the lines of the Roger Vadim Blood and Roses version with some disturbing Lynchian twists.

Brian Stapleford's https://www.amazon.co.uk/Empire-Fear-Brian-Stableford/dp/0330315757/ref=sr_1_10?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1462675525&sr=1-10&keywords=empire+of+fear would make an interesting film if done well. It's set in an alternate history where the worlds ruling classes have all been vampires since the middle ages.

Tanith Lee's https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sabella-Tanith-Lee-ebook/dp/B00LM9F9UO/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1462676306&sr=1-1&keywords=sabella+tanith+lee would make a good vampire sci-fi film.

What I would have liked to have seen is start off with Vampire Lestat and then if it was done well, reboot Interview to follow in time line sequence. If it flopped then at least it wouldnt have touched a classic.

They're not going to be Twilight's light glittering vampires are they {shudders}. Still I thought the one with Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Christian Slater was alright.

I'd rather they have Neil Jordan adapt The Vampire Lestat and not reboot Interview at all.

Ugghh, the original one was done decently enough, why do we need to reboot it?! Just leave it in its coffin for the remainder of eternity! Give us something original!

Methinks someone wants to try adapting the entire Vampire Chronicles to film, using the same cast from beginning to end. Hence why they're remaking Interview.

Better hope they secure the rights for all the books before Anne Rice goes off her nut or finds religion again.

I greatly enjoyed the first three books of Vampire Chronicles, would be fun if they did the whole series justice. And did Armand's appearance proper-like.

According to this they aquire rights to the Vampire Chronicles, meaning all of them. If that were the case and they do the books justice I could get behind them.

I'm not familiar with Leto's work. Will he make a good Lestat?

I'm not either. The only film with him that I've seen according to imbd is Fight Club. He was Angle Face, the blond haired guy.

He seems to be a dedicated actor with the rumors of his Suicide Squad antics so that may be good. He stays in roll off the camera to fully develop his character. If he can master a good French accent, show a little flamboyance and pull off snark humor to stark raving mad lune then he may pull off Lestat fairly well. He did a good crazy joker from what I've heard so we'll see.

Also that link I posted earlier has a picture of him "as" Lestat. I'm mixed on it but I could see it working with some tweaks.

I think Leto would make a great Lestat. He's probably going to be perfect for the role.

That said, I don't think the reboot needs to be made.
