The tool gave me the same error as everyone else and I had to change my user name to oatmeal25 in order to get it to work. Not an ideal solution but I was able to log in to the game. I can't use the tool to change my user name from oatmeal25 back to oatmeal.

Gaming is getting frustrating. Too many games launch in a broken state. The industry is conditioning us to expect numerous faults at launch and to wait at least a month for the game to be repaired.

I've been burned too many times lately and I'm going back to not supporting developers/publishers and waiting until games are fixed and deeply discounted.

Now remains one thing. Can you put on the gamesas.com a feature that lets us to change our account mail ?
This. Or can we delete an account that was mistakenly created but with a valid email address. Editing the account email address I think would be the easiest route. This would be great Crytek. And obviously the change would require verification to the indicated email account.

On a side note, I can see some of the issues people are having. Lets say I change my name AAAA and had BBBB. Then someone changes theirs to BBBB somehow. Now I want to go back from AAAA to BBBB and that name is now in use. Could be a bummer but is the nature of the beast I guess. I still like having the feature.

At me it has turned out to enter under other nickname! And the most important thing all has remained!!! Thanks Crytek!!! P.S:Теперь it is necessary to wait, when you will rectify an error leading to statistics dump!

Its seems like people don't really understand why the accounts are created the way they are and somehow Crytek missed to properly inform them about it as well since the beta went online and those problems started to happen for the first time.

While registering your account either over gamesas.com or in the game, you not just register for the site and the game itself but you also register a gamespy account. And those accounts are bound to an email adress as well and not just to a username, like someone would normaly expect it. So most of the time when you try to register an account you just stumble about a gamespy username that is already in use by another gamespy user.

The other issue with the crysis 2 accounts is that some users already registered their account for the site before the site even checked if the username would also be available as a username for a gamespy account. Which also explains why alot of people couldn't use their already registered mycrisis.com accountname and had to register a new name once the beta went online.

At this time the fallback routine to verify an account seems to be the email adress and no longer the username for both accounts the mycrisis site account as well as the gamespy account that uses the email to veryify an account for quite a long time by now. Now given this information, the feature you and others request, might be possible in the future, but this would need not only crytek to change their account verification and creation system but also gamespy to be changed. Might be possible in the future, but i think at this time its more important to make sure that everyone that wants can play the game and register an account to do so.

Man I told people this fix weeks ago... But no one listens cause they are too busy moaning about Dx11. Lol. Whatafail.
I did this earlier and described entire problem here, as well as Crytek's fault of possibility of nickname hijack due of buggy double name registry they created by crappy programming of gamesas.
It should check for existing accounts (login and password) at Gamespy 1st and if they exist gamesas should dublicate account here and sync, but in fact gamesas do not do it, so this allow to create here account with same as somebody else have at Gamespy, and in same time it creates gamespy account which takes nickname of another person, so thats one of the reason it causing login problems. This is Crytek's fault and if someone hijacked (accidentally or with purpose) your name, you should claim for its return and provide proves to Ctytek support or Gamespy\IGN support. Their duty to fix it and return your name!

Thats the reason account sync dont work for you - someone just got your name via gamesas registration, so now untill Ctytek or Gamespy will return your name, you would not be able to sync both accounts.

Here some details:

Guys i have solution for everyone who have old gamespay account.

I used this method back in Unreal Tournament 3 which had separate name-space in gamespy registry.

Problem of gamesas.com:

Actually it (and game itself) should accept login and password of your old gamespy account and automaticly create rest of account data for you or ask to enter additional dta, but due of poor coding from Crytek side, in most cases you will fail to login with your gamespy account and will be forced to create MyCrisys account.
But in fact whenever you will create gamesas account here at site, or in game - it will create Gamespy account in sub-name space.

This where the tick begins:

When you register at gamesas you need to enter EXACTLY SAME NAME AS YOU HAVE IN YOUR NORMAL GAMESPY ACCOUNT, SAME E-MAIl as you have in Gamespy account AND SAME PASSWORD!
If you will register here with that trick, your new gamesas account will be merged with old Gamespy account with same name, e-mail and password, so you would be able to use your old gamespy id in Crysis 2.

If you was smart enough to register here with same old Gamespy name you may use your account settings in gamesas to change E-mail and password, and all you need to do - set same e-mail and password as in your gamespy account.

In case if somebody other here registered with your gamespy id name , you must claim from Crytek to return this name to you, because by design it should belongs to you and you should login with it here, but due of fault of Crytek, this sub-registry creates exploit in Gamespy, that may allow other user who registered here, to hijack your old gamespy id name and this is legal resposibility of Crytek to not allow this happen.
New users registered here may hijack your old unique gamespy id is they will try lo login to other gamespy services with dublicated name created here, so when you will return back to your gamespy account, it may force you to select new name, since your old name was taken by someone. thats how i lost my old name at Gamespy, due of same bug in other old game.

Im not sure if this is still possible to hijack gamespy name this way, maybe gamespy fixed it, or maybe dublicated name will stay only in Crysis 2 names sub-registry, but anyway, if you had name as gamespy id before its legaly yours and you must claim for it return if someone else taken it here due of mistake of Crytek.

If you lost you bonus content due of this account mess, its you legal right to claim for transfer content licence and other data from account to account, and its duty of Crytek to help and deal with mess they created, if they will refuse to help you with that problem - tell them that you will sue them, if they will resist to help again, sue them for fraud and violation of warranties and other laws. You paid for content and its yours!

Have you tried to chance your e-mail and password after creation of account?
Try this trick - change password to something new, than change back to password matching your gamespy account, same about e-mail. also name probably should be in same case and Freyar could be no same as freyar.
And yeah dont forget to login into game MP after you will sync accounts data, pehaps merge will happen when you will login in game.

And do you really sure that everything 100% matched?
This worked for me here, just today! This trick worked in UT3 years ago.
You are doing something wrong or maybe you encountered some bug in system and should try again but in different way, and dont forget to login from game.
Oh yeah i forgot to mention that i played Crysis 2 demo before and used there my gamespy id without registration here, perhaps this may help.
Try download demo, log - in wiht gamespy id (since demo used direct gamespy ids, not gamesas id), and then sync account here and in full game.

Funny thing - when i activated my bonus code, i received e-mail:

[here was my real name, but funniest thing - i never entered it at MyCrisys, it was taken from my old gamespy id].-

SAVE THIS EMAIL.

Congratulations! This is verification of your Code Redemption from EA and Crytek, powered by GameSpy Direct2Game [thats even more funny - DLC store and unlock transactions powered by Direct2Drive related system called Direct2Game]:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Redemption Date: 3/28/2011 2:15:29 AM

Crysis 2 Limited Edition Bonus Unlock $0.00
Tax $0.00
Total $0.00
Thanks again!
----

So this message confirms that gamesas and gamespy account successfully merged. And i suppose if ill check my old gamespy id Direct2Drive transaction history i will find there something about Limited Edition Bonus Unlock.

Crytek messed things pretty hard with gamesas, but method i described worked like charm for me so i dont have login problems anymore.

UPD: Oh yeah! I noticed that this site have pretty bad cookie managment, cookies here corrupted and that one of the reason some things dont work. After all these changes (and maybe before them) clear all your cookies or press F12 in IE7-8 and clear cookie for this domain (not sure this feature available in other browsers) or try to login from different browser. Try to log off and log-in and also try to login with e-mail, not with username.

Also due of crappy Crysis 2 programming, in case of your password longer than 10 symbols (Crysis 2 dont accept more than 10 symbols, despite Gamespy itself supports up to 16 or 20 symbols in password - this must be fixed by Crytek too) you may have login problems too.

My problem is that I created a second account when the PC Demo came out. So if I change the name of this account and log in with it, I'll lose all of my progress, and probably also my limited edition bonus to boot.

What can/should I do???

So apparently I had two accounts with the same name. I've changed the name of my forum account, but not my in-game account. Now I can log in to the forums with either account (since they have different names). I haven't tried it, but I imagine I could use either account to log in to the game as well.

I would like to combine the two, but this doesn't seem to be possible right now.

Or is it? Tom's post seems to imply that it can be done. Am I doing something wrong?

I logged into my Gamespy account and entered my email/pwd. It comes up with the message "Elrikk isn't available" and asks me to choose another nickname. That was immediately upon login (didn't even enter Elrikk to begin with). Still can't believe someone could just up and take my nickname.

svcks that I had to change my name here as I've been Elrikk in-game for nearly 13 years. Ah well, *shrug*, hopefully I can finally play MP now. If not, I'm going postal.....in single-player mode, of course.

It might work as Tom's post really can be understood this way. But I wouldn't try a stunt like this if either one of your accounts stores a redeemed LE code. In case it should I would wait till you got some reliable feedback from the moderators on that topic. In case you don't have to worry about the LE code you might just wanna give it a try, but even then there is so much still broken with the account system that you might just leap from one bug into another, like stats tracking issues for example, cause 2 mycrisis accounts also would mean two gamespy accounts that would need to be merged properly.

Still can't believe someone could just up and take my nickname.

As it has been said, the uniqueness of an account name isn't only bound to gamesas but as well to all of the registered gamespy names. Since you mentioned in-game, if this means you already used this nickname with crysis1 or wars you might be lucky and could just give your account data for those games a try. It has been mentioned in another beta related thread from one of the moderators that they might work for crysis 2 as well. If you still got the email adress in mind that you used to register for that games and the password, just try login with this information at the gamespy site to see if it works. If it doesn't Elrikk is prolly in use by another gamespy user already, which wouldn't allow you to register a crysis 2 account for this username.

I don't know why they say: "login in game with gamesas account data". It dosen't work. At least for me. For the game login, only the GameSpy account works. Or maybe this is beacause I have the same username/email on GameSpy and gamesas?!?... I use different passwords and so I can see witch account works for the game login. But I still can't use the LE code.

Please help me understand how changing my username in gamesas will “sync up” with my Crysis2 account… It doesn’t really matter because gamesas won’t let me change it anyway, says invalid password even though I just logged in with that password 30 secs ago.

Even in the demo I was forced to use two accounts; one to play the game and one to log into gamesas. My old name/password from previous Crysis games is what I can play with, and had to make another account here so I could post on the forums. Neither one works with the other which makes it impossible to redeem my preorder LE code that I paid for and am entitled to.

So when I saw this new “fix” thread I dusted off the game and started beta testing again.

Waste of my time so far, but this is what I’m dealing with if anyone can help:

User name David369 for both accounts, but today I found that they are tied to different e-mails. So I log into the gamesas account and go to “edit profile” and there is no way to change the e-mail tied to the account. Only under account settings did I see a “confirm changes” with a side note about e-mail, but nowhere to actually change it, just password. I figure just delete this gamesas account and start a new matching one so I get the “sync” option, but no, I get a warning that my name will be lost forever. Ok, so what if I change the user name then delete, nope, can’t change the name because password invalid error (tried all sorts of combos with both accts). Even thought about changing e-mail linked to GameSpy; but I wouldn’t want to do that anyway because it may mess up my other games.

I realize that I can play the game and my complaints are petty, but maybe, just maybe they will see my post and it will help them troubleshoot this mess.

@ElrikkOne: yeah I saw the same thing on GameSpy, and I doubt someone stole your name. I saw the same exact thing when I tried to login using e-mail/password I had written down in my Crysis1 box, said name is no good and wanted me to choose another name, but then I checked my Warhead box and saw that at one point I made a new GameSpy account with a different e-mail and was able to use same exact name which made the old one invalid/used. Basically I think you still own that name but you replaced it with a new account/email. Hope that helps…
