Invalid Serial Error

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:43 am

Since the latest patch, I always receive the message that my serial code is invalid when try to join the Multiplayer. I need then to reenter my key by using the edit function in game. Then it works again and I can login and play. However, after exiting the game and restarting it, the error appears again, telling me my serial code is invalid. Then I reenter it again and can join...

Although there is a way for me to join after reentering the key, this is quite annoying! I already tried to reenter the key, login, go back to Singlelplayer and back again to Multiplayer. In this case, I do not have to reenter the key and I can logon immediately. But after exiting the game and restarting it, it starts over again.

Please, Crytek, have a look at this and let us know if there is any workaround or if you need to apply another patch.

Oh Wow.. Cannot believe I am the only one with that issue..

Or is it just the frequent spam here in the forums pushing it to site 2? Oo

I have the same problem. When I try to login to multiplayer (which worked fine yesterday) it gives me the incorrect serial message.

The lame part is that before the multiplayer then single then blah blah to get it to store your serial fix I was carrying my lap top to my friends house a few times and was keeping the manual with the serial on it in my packback, somewhere, somehow, I lost it...GG

Anyone know where the crysis 2 serial is in the vista registry? I have looked all through local machine and users...

1) Press “Start” + “R” keys to launch the Run window.
2) In the Run box, type “regedit” and hit Enter.
3) A large window will open, divided into two columns. In the left side, each element has a white arrow next to its name. By clicking on that arrow, you will make the element expand. Do this for “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE”.
4) Now expand “SOFTWARE” as well.
5) From the long list, find “Electronic Arts” or “EA” and expand it.
6) You should see Crysis 2 right below. Double-click on its name and a small list will open in the right panel.
7) All these entries are registries. Locate the one entitled “CD KEY”, “CODE” or “erdc” and double-click on it. The Crysis 2 serial number should pop right away.

You can try what Tuskan said. I didn't do that and mine worked after typing it in the third time. His method sounds like a foolproof one since you're going into the reg, though.

I have tried that...it is not there. There is no EA entry. There is an EA entry somewhere in a component directory with some box art stuff..also there are three different crytek entries, none have anything more serialish than the product id. :/

@tuskan: Thanks for this. When I am back home from work today I will check the serial in the registry to see if there is something wrong. However, I always double checked my serial when I typed it in so I don′t think that this will solve the issue for me.

I also opened a ticket with the Crytek Support for this issue. If I receive a reply I will let you know here..

Same problem since last patch. MP key doesn′t work anymore. And this "going back to sp and then reenter key"- solution doesn′t work for me. And the best is that i can′t wright a message to crytek support, cause this also doesn′t work.
Very, very, very bad.

Hi guys,

If you're getting an invalid CD key issue please try re-entering your key:

Click Modify on the login screen next to your key. Ensure that you're using all capital letters and adding in the hyphens "-" between each character sets, exactly as it's printed.

Let us know how you go :)

Cheers!

OK, I will try it later once again and let you know. However: I already did this and it works to logon (as I wrote in my initial post) but as soon as I restart the whole game, it again says that my key is not valid and I have to reenter the serial again.

Well, I will try it again as soon as I am at home from work and let you know if it helps, but I doubt it..

It's probably much more difficult for the majority of users to to a regedit than it is to just do it through the game menu properly :)

Well .. I want to join in since I'm also having this issue. After the 1.2 patch it gave me the "Invalid code ....." and I tried several things to get it to work, with no luck. I'm using the steam version and "verify integrity of game cache ..." somehow forced the game to authorize again and after that it worked ...until today. Now it gives me the "Invalid serial code ..." again and nothing seems to get it going not even the "verify .." trick.
So I'm stuck with a valid serial code but cannot play the game online. Please get this fixed so we can play online.

You've re-entered your key as i've instructed above? Did it accept the key when you re-entered it or did it come up with an error?

I entered the key once again, didn't help at all.

No, you don't login, you modify your key first. Please refer to my previous posts.
