I am playing on medium texture settings and in inventory items look ugly but on highest settings they look great. Is it possible to play on medium settings but with highest texture setting in inventory?

If you are on the PC, there may be a mod for this later on.

Here is what you can do, turn down the shadows to low and you can probably run higher level textures. Don't worry, the shadows won't look any worse than they are when you set those low.
