Inventory Sort Order

Post » Thu Apr 21, 2011 2:24 am

I deleted my bash patch and added a new one but forgot to save the settings, before I done that my inventory was sorted in a very nice way I think everyone would be familiar with E.G the strength of your healing potions with a vanilla game is potion of healing, strong potion of healing, mighty potion of healing and with what ever it is that changes it (I actually don't know what it is that makes the change) there named healing I, healing II, healing III, healing IV, healing V and so on along with the rest of your potions.

After deleting my bash patch and adding my new one the names have gone back to the vanilla type of naming and I don't like it :( I tried the tweak name setting in the bash options but that's just adding a letter to show what category that potion would be in.

Anyone know how do I can get the other way back with the roman numerals??

Right click on each of the options that change the names of the items and it'll bring up lists you can choose from.

Yeah I know about that but that doesn't have the option I want, it just changes what you have after the letter so ether a ''.'' or ''-'' or just a space and a few others...no roman numerals option though.

There's no option for roman numerals but you can use arabic numerals just the same. I'm not sure why you'd prefer I,II,III over 1,2,3 because they both have the same effect. Look further down in the list, you should see an option that has a letter followed by a number. So your weaker healing potion for example would be "(R01) Potion" and a stronger one "(R02) Potion". You don't have to use parentheses but I do because it's easier to read.

I thought it was the UOP Supplemental that did that? Have you gone through all your import settings?

It's not that I prefer that it's just what I'm use to, thing is, it's not actually an option I choose to have it just happens every time i mod my game so having it set and named different had made me lose track of where things are, things that was at the top like ''bottled water'' is now at the bottom ''R - bottled water'' so just want it back the way it was. I don't think Arabic numerals will help ether lol.

Are you sure you used Bash for this? Because I'm not aware of any options for roman numerals. But I still don't understand why you don't try using arabic numerals (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0), you'll get the same result, except instead of it having a IV it will have a 4, or whatever. I mean, maybe you used a mod that sorted things, and it's different than what Bash would do, but I suggest trying Bash's tweak anyway. I have no trouble finding what I'm looking for now.

Right click on whatever you want to tweak and at the bottom of the list that comes up there should be a letter followed by a number, like "D2 Nameofthing" or "(D2) Nameofthing" whichever style you prefer. I just checked and there isn't an option like that for potions, I think it automatically sorts them by strength, but you can set most everything else to have numbers following the class of the particular item (the letter in that example) so they sort well.

Are you talking about importing Rational Names under import names which imports the names from rational_names.csv located in \data\bash patches?

Oh cool, how did I miss that? That must be what he was using then? I'll have to try that and see how it compares, don't know how I went so long without changing the names at all. Apparently Bethesda thought everyone would have a maximum of ten items at all times or something. Either that or a significant percentage of people enjoy scrolling blindly through inventory to find that one obscurely named item.
