I don't really care, it didn't make a difference, cuz for some reason whenever I played all stores seemed to have infinite money.

Since the economy on Skyrim will be LIVING, as they say, I want the option to invest in shops.

It wasn't great in Oblivion where each person had infinite money, limited by transactions but you could increase this maximum with investment.
In fallout 3 the select merchants that you could invest in had greater money, better repair skills and also better selection, which I thought was nicely done.

I think investing in some merchants makes sense.

Does anybody know if there's any levelling with merchants? It was daft in Oblivion when you reach level X and the merchants suddenly start stocking a higher level armour. Most of the time you'd have already gotten this armour from bodies and dungeons, so I rarely actually used merchants for buying. In Morrowind, merchants often had a few "prize" items that ridiculously expensive, but you'd save up (or try to steal) as best as you could and travel to remote merchants for specialities. If the Skyrim economy is indeed living, please don't have levelling in merchants and don't employ fake levelling by having to invest in every last merchant before you get a decent selection!
