Invisible Creatures with MMM/Frans?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 5:44 pm

Ran into this odd bug where some creatures are invisible, i can hear them and if the crosshairs moves over em, their name pops up, but otherwise i can't see them, humanoids seem not to be affected, but Mud Crabs and Rats are and i'm pretty sure either MMM or Frans is at fault because i was playing last night without either of those mods and i was seeing rats just perfectly.

This is the load order i'm using.

Oblivion.esm
Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items Mod.esm
Francesco's Optional New Creature Add-on.esm
Francesco's Optional New Items Add-on.esm
Mart's Monster Mod.esm.
Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp
UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp
DLCShiveringIsles.esp
Francesco's Optional Files.esp
Francesco's 10 days respawn time - 1-20 length rescale.esp
Francesco's Slower skills x1.5.esp
Marts Monster Mod for Francesco's.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - City Defences.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Less Bone Loot.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Resized Races.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - No Carrion Rats.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - More Wilderness Life.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Looting NPCs & Creatures.
Mart's Monster Mod - Hunting & Crafting.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Durability & Damage.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Gem & Gem Dust.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Diverse Creature Skins.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Diverse Imperial Armor.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Reduced Spawn Rates.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Fran's Leveled Quests.esp
Improved Signs.esp
Get Wet.esp
Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp
Storms.esp
Atmospheric Oblivion.esp
Symphony of Violence.esp

Also, i installed all the mods manually, i forgot about OBMM, so i ended up just downloading OBMM to do the archive invalidation crap last night and like i said, it was all working perfectly, so i believe the problem is something that went wrong with the installation of MMM or Fran's or that either or both of them are somehow conflicting with the other mods i'm using. Besides the listed mods, i'm also u sing Qarl's Texture Pack Redimized, the texture pack for SI, and the entire lines of "Improved" (i.e Improved Doors & Flora, Improved Trees & Flora 1, etc).

Hopefully someone can point out where the problem might be.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It probably has to do with your BSA's. Frans should be registered in the ini. If it's not, you'll get missing meshes and textures. MMM should be renamed. If it's not you'll get missing textures. Most likely the invisible rats and stuff is from missing normal maps.

Also, you shouldn't use Francesco's Optional New Creature Add-on.esm with MMM.

I was reading about the renaming procedure, but it kinda confused me lol, i'll give it another read and see if i can set that up properly

Thanks!

Ok, not sure what i'm doing wrong or if i'm simply not looking in the right location. I copied all the contents of MMM to the appropriate locations (i.e esm and esp to the data folder, texture to the textures folder, etc) but i can't find the MMM file i have to rename, i keep going over the installation instructions, but i'm lost there :(

You probably have an old version of MMM. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1116296-relz-martsmonstermod37b3-public-release-3-relz/ has all the resources in a bsa. And, as said, don't use Francesco's Optional New Creature Add-on.esm with MMM + Fran's. You want MMM to handle the added new creatures.

Perhaps better start over with a new install as you installed MMM manually and you need to remove that install before installing the latest version. The MMM release thread (linked above) has more info.

Thats the same one i have.

Edit: Or maybe i don't :/

I'll do a reinstall and see how that goes.

One last question, it's recommended to use OBMM when messing around with mods, right? what about mods that don't use OMOD's or simpy mods that don't have an OMOD version?

OK, but then you should have a MMM.bsa, which should be renamed to Mart's Monster Mod for Fran.bsa as described in the OP of that thread. Plus I don't understand your previous post as the latest MMM release doesn't come with any loose textures etc.

I made an edit up there right after i posted, i had MMM 3.0 instead of the 3.7 which i think is the current.

I'm gonna work on re-installing everything back together, i'm sure i'll run into a brick wall somewhere, so i'll be back around here sooner rather then later probably :P

MMM 3.73b3p3, which Arkngt linked you to, is the most up-to-date release, the one you have is way old, you really need to upgrade
