They discuss their opinions about Skyrim so far. Note: You gotta watch them talk about Portal2 first and then they will talk about Skyrim.

yeah, I love how they don't pull punches when they discuss games. I have to agree with a lot of what they said. I hope more people have the chance to view this link before it gets pushed to page 2 though. Trying to provide for the community can be difficult sometimes.

Got a timestamp so I can just skip to the part that matters?

Edit: Nevermind I no longer care but a Timestamp would be nice for others. Just say what time the coverage on Skyrim starts.

LOL there's a hilarious part in this show. One guy brings up the new graphics engine. Another guy says, "They aren't using Gamebryo anymore are they?" Everyone starts laughing and someone says "No, I think they took Gamebryo out back and shot it!"

So funny! But all in all, this is a great podcast. Recommend listening just for the sake of critic opinion. Nothing in terms of new info that I've heard yet, however.

They do have a history of doing such, though it turns out as a great product regardless.

How so? Remember they don't have infinite gold bars buried in the basemant and are basically a self publisher.

What other games are you comparing to?

They definitely do, though. Run diagonally in any game from Morrowind to FO3 and look at how downright lazy they've been.

They don't cut any corners more than other publishers. That's bull [censored]. They have limited funds, they can't make THE PERFECT GAME. If they 'cut corners' it's no more than everybody else in the industry. And none of the other guys are making intensely realized sandbox worlds.

Nice opinions. Finally someone with some critique instead of praise! sounds like Skyrim needs a bit of melee work, and i mentioned this before.

Really god, the only thing I don't like so much is mentioning bugs. Honestly, Bethesda's games are buggy, but if you keep a relative level of perspective, it's a miracle they have as few as they do. Get another Developing team behind the same tech, and you get Fallout: New Vegas.

Oh, and Also, the camera in the combat was mentioned. I hope that's just because it's unfinished, not because of the more visceral effect they're going for.

Everyone is going to get a bit irritated when they don't pull punches with their opinions but they are reliable when it comes to that specifically. They have been in the undustry for years and years, some for 9+ years (Bloodworth for example). They do it because they love video games. Oh and the cut corners part was mentioned because of Obsidian's Fallout New Vegas. Shane is particularly angry about how buggy that game is. Even though it was Obsidian who was in charge of it mostly Bethesda still had their name on it and that was what he meant by it. Let's face it, Bethesda does have some flaws that do seem to carry over from product to product and we don't see much in improvement on games like that. Does that mean Skyrim will be horrible? Definitely not. Will we all still love the crap out of it? Yup.

Yeah, I totally get it, but technically it's not even "Bethesda's" name on it, in terms of the developer studio, Bethesda Game Studios. It's Bethesda Softworks. Still, I know 99.867% of consumers aren't going to draw that conclusion.

Overall, I did love the fact they weren't willing to buy totally into the hype, and take a good chunk out of what they saw. It's people like that, who can keep games moving forward, instead of stagnating.

Also, loved the bit where they railed Dragon Age II.

I think they just have a personal gripe against the camera, like how in Oblivion in first person, when you block you cant see your oponent
