Invisible Walls.

One thing which makes me feel really weird is walking off the map and coming to the edge of the world or no clipping through the ground to the "endless sea" which lies under and to the far distance outside the map. It gives me the creeps doing it.

Well, they're definitely necessary near the edges of the maps... But, other than that, they shouldn't be over-utilized...

My gut tells me Skyrim is going to be a pooper-scooper shape. Steep mountains to the South, West, and East, and then of course Ocean to the North. Or maybe if you go too far North the frozen water gets too slippery and you slide back (kidding... partially). All the international highway routes will most likely be fenced or hopefully open with a brief glimpse into other nations with skyrim graphics and only an invisible barrier telling you your destiny does not lie there.

I have a feeling that Skyrim will be a Full Circle of a Mountain, with only One Open Spot that leads out into the Ocean.

Sure you can climb some Mountains, but when you get to the top, the outward view will be Another Mountain and looking around the Skyrim World, you might Notice Mountains all around.
