Invulnerable to Dragon Fire?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:26 pm

In the new game trailer we see the dragon blasting Dovahkiin with fire and I don't see a shield brought up. Judging by the size and power of that flame Dovah should've been incinerated or at least damaged, but he's not. Are the Dragonborn invulnerable to their flames? Is that one of the key attributes that enables them to be Skyrim's remaining hope of defeating this threat?

Or did he really get burned and the damage just doesn't show?

There could be a thousand of reasons, I could list a few of them but I would bore you, any is plausible and possible, but guessing now about it and even after the release of Skyrim guessing would be impossible.

You know what makes the most sense to me? Is that it was a trailer for a video game and they thought the shot of a dude standing there looking like a badass with dragon flames all around him would look cool.

Well what happens when the dragons breathe frost? He will be doomed! He just blocked the flames. Breathing fire isn't done by the dragon, it's a dragonshout by the dragon. Dragons don't actually naturally fly or breath fire or anything, their language allows them to fly and breathe fire, or breathe frost or slow time around them.

Also please understand...Its a trailer, it has to be epic. It wouldn't be epic if he fell on his ass and then died would it?

Well when it cuts back to him he is lowering his shield so he blocked, and he might have been hurt who knows, but i do know that bethesda do make them selves invulnerable in gameplay trailers as we've seen with morrowind and oblivion so they can show off features without worry, or derail of the trailer. if a dragon can spit fire at dovahkiin then im sure when the game release you'll be toast. lol

nahh he would of looked much cooler if the force or the flames sent him straight off of that cliff he was on , smashing into big outcropping rocks and covered in flames (The Burned Man .. anyone).. would make him seem alot more daunting when he gets back up

Indeeed, I doubt the trailer will be immune to dragon fire, certainly, I'm sure you can get resistences to fire, but I doubt you'll be immune to it by default. In the end, the scene is just designed to look epic, and I suspect that for the sake of the trailer, Bethesda gave the character godmode, they wouldn't want their shots being ruined by the player character dying when they don't want to show that, after all.

No, not really. It doesn't really work that well for you're trailer if it shows the supposed chosen hero dying half way through out, generally speaking. Besides, the remaining scenes of dragon fighting couldn't work if that happened.
