Ipod Touch?

Then it was probably not a particularly good idea to come into the topic and state something you did not have much knowledge of.

Read the next sentence please.

It's a resource hog is the most obvious one.

Yeah, it actually is.

I was not aware. I don't own an iPod, and I don't follow iPod culture. My family owns them, and iTunes is a lot more pointlessly involved than just dragging and dropping my music files.

And that's all I'll say, don't want to veer this topic off course.

Yeah, you're right, it's a lot more involved, and maybe pointlessly so, but I like it that way. It lets me get all my album artwork, it's very organized and neat.
It also lets me type in lyrics under the options for each song so they scroll by while it's playing. That's pretty neat.

That doesn't have much to do with the fact that you said that IPods are bound to Itunes.

You don't need to be a professor to give your opinion. I have had plenty of experience with iPods, I just don't research workarounds for something I don't care about. Jesus you guys are so hostile for no reason.

I apologize if I offended anyone. I came in here to give my opinion, not start any arguments.

mine cost 40 dollars and has video and 8 GB so it works for me. the problem with apple products is that you can find a better alternative that costs half as much. friend of mine has one that has lot more storage than mine (dont know exactly how much but shes got movies and crap on hers) does everything the ipod does and only cost her around $60. i wish i would bought hers instead. :(

Pretty sure most people are aware you don't have to use iTunes to use an iPod. I do, I love iTunes. Don't see why you wouldn't want to use it.

Yeah, depending on the model you have 1, two, maybe 3 other choices :P

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_iPod_managers virtually nothing is a full-featured replacement, only a handful support transferring music to an iPod Touch/iPhone. So, yeah, I think it is a fair statement to say that there aren't any real options beyond iTunes, especially for the latest models of all iPod products, and support is hit-or-miss as far as other models and supported features.

On topic: The OP needs to ask himself one question: do you really want thiose few apps enough to warrant the vastly higher price-tag associated with the iPod Touch in comparison to other PMPs (including even older iPod models)? If those apps are THAT much "Must Have!" then you obivously have already made your decision, if you are any less certain, you are probably better off saving your wallet the pain and getting a cheaper PMP.

Hell yeah it's worth it. Best music listening device there is.
Well, besides your own ears. Those are better at listening to music.

It's a cool little device, but the worst part of it is it's music playback.

Get a Cowon or Samsung P3 if you want a touch screen player and the music is what's important.

So I MUST use Itunes to put music on it? Betrayer of Humanity could you PM it to me? Just want to know about it. Don't you have to pay for Music from itunes? So that means if I wanted to put the entire CD of Endgame by Megadeth on it (Which I have bought already) I have to pay for the music again?

Update: After further review, thread stays closed for piracy talk.

The only licensed means of introducing content to an iPod is iTunes. Any technical means of evading that restriction is piracy.
