I was indecently excited by this: such a beautiful bag! So cheap! So rare!
(The replica had no logos, so was more a "homage" than direct copy.)
Nobody else quite "gets" it, as far as I can tell. As far as I'm concerned, the "reward" centre of my brain gets hit multiple times with one transaction:
- The pleasure of finding the "bargain"
- The pleasure of buying the good
- The pleasure of receiving it
- The pleasure of locking it away in a cupboard until I have "earned" it, and then presenting myself with the prize
Does anyone else have such an irrational relationship with a material good?
Did anyone else make a bargain with themselves? I spoke to a colleague earlier who said she'd get a tattoo if she reached her goal weight - does anyone else have an if-then-else relationship with a promised reward?
