Irritating issue: dialogue ordering

Post » Tue Sep 22, 2015 7:42 pm

Morrowind doesn't like when plug-ins re-shuffle .ESM dialogue order. That was a big issue I discovered with Morrowind Patching --one you more or less needs to create new dialogue in the correct order rather than sort existing dialogue. Single dialogue lines can be shuffled without incident. A group of existing dialogue? No go.

Now, if you directly edit the ESM dialogue order, then it will work, but redistributing the master files for that would be a hard sell for end users. :)

Well, I asked Hrnchamd about it, but he doesn't seem to be active at the moment, so there are a couple of options:

1. Use Enchanted Editor to manually edit the PNAM and NNAM values to what I want. Downside: time-consuming, tedious, and I don't completely trust Enchanted Editor; plus, I dunno if the values would stay put in the CS.

2. See if MWEdit avoids this problem. Downside: maybe it doesn't, and there's kinda a huge problem because MWEdit seems to only allow moving one piece of dialogue up or down one space at a time and it reloads the entire dialogue window when you do, so it takes forever.
