Archeopterix has got to be the most.....er....colorful....old timer. I've seen (I always thought her) post within the last year or so, but not so much lately.
Now there's a dinosaur for you, if you ever did see one.

Archie is often around, and yes it is a girl. :) You can usually find her on #elderscrolls.

I come back because gamesas have been releasing consistently good titles, for the last decade. That and I love to read the users' speculation about up and coming TES games, with such a rich lore the topics can get pretty interesting, speculative or not. The place is pretty friendly to boot.

Cripes, Archie is still around? I remember... she used to pop up in threads like that Toasty guy from Mortal Kombat 2. :P
It's good to see some of the old users are still active.

Don't drink the water. They put something into it. Now we can never leave.

We're... allowed to leave? I... I thought that was impossible. What about the corpses of the ones who tried? The moderators collect them I hear, for untold purposes - perhaps even making new mods :o

I keep trying to get out, but they keep pulling me back in.
I'm attached to this place, and not in the good way, except when I am. Cheese for everyone!

It's the search button... really, it's a trap! Once you want to use it, you have to register and than Boom! You're trapped! For all readers that are not members yet:
Don't get under the spell of the search button!

I love this forum, I seriously do.

I used to frequent the Bungie forums quite a bit. But then, they turned bad. Really bad. The only thing the Bungie forums are good for is arguing about Armor Lock and flaming the crap out of people who don't deserve it.

This forum really is awesome. I've been here for a good few months now, and I haven't been baited into a flame war ONCE. Coming from the Bungie forums, I actually really like that the mods keep things strict. It will ensure that this forum will go on as long as Bethesda does.

Edit: Plus I was a lurker here for a good 5 years. So it's about friggin time I finally just made an account.

I've been spending alot of time on the Bungie fourms since Reach was released, and it has really made me miss here.

and @ HARVEYtheDAMNED: I still hate Armor Lock. It really is an abomination. Kidding. I couldn't resist. Although I do kind of hate it though.

hehe, I second that. :sb:

I joined back in 2007 and I am glad to see the community has remained a mostly polite place to discuss opinions and ask questions about your current playthrough.

--snip--

This forum has grown a lot over the years, but manages to keep a good character. I must admit, however, that I miss the halcyon fishy-stick days. But that's just me being old. :D

I reckon having so many people stick around is half the reason this place keeps the... environment it has. Helps to indoctrinate newcomers, you could say :P. In regards to "fish"y sticks, well, other memes have succeeded it, I suppose. Can't bring that sort of thing back, it just becomes a hollow ghoul, bereft of the meanings it once had.

Oh, and have tasty sconce, baked fresh! :D

Don't drink the water. They put something into it. Now we can never leave.

Are you saying we're faeries? :stare:

Good members, moderators, etc. It's the best damn site on the net as far as I am concerned. (In those regards.) Though I do have to agree with Holycannoli a bit, it's not quite the same forum it once was back when i joined. (Membership has also gone through the roof since then.) Some of that good, but some bad.

As much as I railed against the politics/religion ban, I've since decided I now agree with the decision. Some folks just can't hold their water when it comes to those topics. (And it only takes one to degrade a topic fast. P.S. I may guilty myself.) I like this place too much for that crap. The bad, is they were some of the more interesting threads here. Seems thread quality (or quantity of quality) took a nose dive and it is/was just the same old crap re-posted time and time again. Now it's just somewhere in the middle.

The need to keep things PG-13 has been frustrating for some people, too (not for bad reasons, just that it can constrain various artistic and sciency discussions, for example). But for most people, restricted topics/content don't come up enough to be a significant problem.

It should be said that mods (individually, usually) are sometimes willing to babysit a potentially problematic thread, when they have the time and energy to do so. They're not out to ruin our fun, they've simply got higher priority tasks to do with their unpaid, volunteered time :).

hey there, this is a PG-13 forum, no bonding allowed here

Like that, is it? :hubbahubba:

EDIT: Later on I'll post a little more, stuff I was going to say before I went and typed out replies to a bunch of quotes :P.

Tell me, Mr. Donner, is that single-image placeholder site you speak of the special holiday edition, with Santa Claus standing in front of the gaping, molten maw of Dagoth Ur?

Whoa, hold the phone... So, like, in just under two months, it'll be twelve years since I joined up here? Unreal. Geez.

If I find that old Zip disk buried in my closet somewhere, I may be able to find the ICQ chatlog that brought me here.

I'm pretty sure it was http://www.imperial-library.info/content/page-17 here. Maybe http://www.imperial-library.info/content/page-10, it's been a long time.

Do you also need to find a Zip drive? :D

Don't think I don't have a Zip drive!

It's the AC adapter for said Zip drive that I'm missing...

But they have some internal Zip drives on some of the editing stations at school, so I could always borrow one of those.

And I thought I was showing my age!

I still have all of the photos GT posted of the Morrowind release party but they're quite a bit younger than your ICQ logs.

This forum generally has a much more mature and nicer population then most other game forums. I am not a very active poster on here but I am usually still reading here on a daily basis and have been for over 6 years now.

I've been a member on this forum since it started way back, under several different user names over the years. I find that out of all of the forums I'm a member of, this is the most civil, respectful and well moderated. However I feel It has gone downhill somewhat since Oblivion was released and the moderators have had to become more heavy handed, in some cases stepping over the mark imo (but then the troll rate hase increased significantly). This forum still outdoes just about any in civility though (except for maybe the DaggerXL forums wich are by far the best).
