Isn't this hypocritical?

My current character is a Redguard, and I prefer to have him stick to Yokudan tradition.

As you know, magic in general is hated in Hammerfell. And for that reason I'm keeping distance from any schools of magic, though Restoration is inevitable because sometimes it's a life or death situation.

The thing is, he is a werewolf. Being affiliated with a Daedric Prince certainly is more unnatural than raising the dead or manipulating the mind, practices which the Redguards loathe.

In real life every person is an individual. We are not controlled by a hive mind based on our race, or our class, or our country of origin. I believe roleplaying should reflect that. I believe every roleplaying character should be treated as an individual who is as unique and idiosyncratic as real human beings.

Race can be a starting point when determining a character's personality or beliefs but it should not be an ending point. So I do not believe it is necessarily hypocritical.

As PW said, the individual is more unique than the group.

If it helps, that one Redguard lady is a Necromancer in Ansilvund I believe. Lu'ah Al Skaven, I think.

I don't disagree with that. If I were to be completely literal about this he would be xenophobic as well, because only the Imperialized Forebears have a more open mind regarding outsiders.

I suppose there's no harm in giving up a thing or two. Worshipping the Yokudan pantheon should be enough as far as being a true Ra Gada goes.

I know what you're getting at, but Lu'ah isn't the best example. At least not if you're going for morally good.

Well, the Redguard agents use a paralysis spell on the chick, if you turn her over.

Exactly my thoughts as soon as I read the first few sentences then I laughed when I saw the first reply was by Pseron Wyrd posting what was running through my mind. Thank goodness he is still sane unlike :bonk:  :bonk:

Real life always takes us on unexpected spins where the inner spirit speaks its truer self beyond the flesh deceptive beyond the lies before the eyes.

The ra gada would shun you. Good morals or not. Werewolves would be considered a cowards tool. Not a true yokudan in the slightest no matter how much praise you give to the pantheon.

Then I figure I'm gonna have to rethink my RP because there is no way in Oblivion I would restart him.

He knew of Kodlak from Hammerfell, and knew Kodlak had something that made Him a fierce and respected Warrior, and mistakenly believed Kodlaks strength to be Beast Blood :icecream:

Only the schools of Illusion, Conjuration and Necromancy. Especially necromancy given that Redguards are crazy about both Arkay and Tu'whacca. As long as you limit conjuration to binding weapons and not summoning a creature to fight for your hide then it would be ok. Conjuring swords with their minds was one of the first things most sword-singers of old learned after all. Illusion is milkdrinking stuff so that is pretty much out completely out of the question along with necromancy. There is nothing that says they are against Destruction or Restoration.

Technically the whole "Redguards hate magic" is only applicable to 3 schools. They don't really hate magic as much as they just prefer their own such as http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Dragonborn:Wind_and_Sand_(book) and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Pocket_Guide_to_the_Empire,_3rd_Edition/Other_Lands magic

If you played Daggerfall , there were a lot of Vampire clans in Northern Hammerfell so I don't think werewolves are too much of a big deal especially considering werewolves are always strength orientated creatures unlikely vampires and their trickery.
