Issue with LaunchingUninstalling

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2016 3:57 am

I sent this to technical support but got the most useless, automated reply ever.

I haven't played Oblivion since mid 2013 before i moved back onto CoD, dad uninstalled it after i hadn't played it for a few weeks.

Suddenly got bored and sad today after i realised my AoE3 disc was trashed.

Found Oblivion apparently still on my computer, launched it, selected 'Play' and i got this message -->

'The Oblivion Launcher could not find the Oblivion game executable. Please reinstall Oblivion'.

sigh

Launched it again, selected 'Uninstall' this time and after a couple of minutes of what sounded like my computer failing to read the disc.. i got this message -->

'Unable to authenticate original disk within time limit. Try again?'

My Oblivion game is an authentic version.. it's the GOtY edition with both expansions which i bought when it was released from either Game or HMV.

I've literally tried everything under the sun. Someone on google suggested searching for any old files from 2013, so i did.. using CCleaner and also searching in my Local Disk for any files linked with 'Bethesda', 'Elder Scrolls' and 'Oblivion'. Deleted those, restarted my computer and i am still getting the same messages. I even tried uninstalling it from setup, but again.. i get the same messages.

Any help is greatly appreciated.. love and miss this game.

Just including this (safe) photolink to what my game files look like..

The authentication problem could be due to the optical drive being a burner (DVDRW).

You can try using a standard DVD ROM drive, if you have one.

You can try manually disabling the burner feature (also uninstall any third party utilities for burning discs).

If nothing else works, you can always buy a digital copy of the game.
