Issue with movies between missions. Bug?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 5:50 am

I came here to ask for help again. I've been posting this thread many times and nobody was able to help me. I know I'm not the only one to have this issue as other people joined me in my threads, but nobody found the solution. The problem is:

While playing Crysis 2 I have issue with movies between mission (those with 3d map of NYC). They are lagging, sound is sloooooow and jumpy - you literally can't watch it, they are more of a slideshow. If I access them via EXTRAS they work perfect - so why not between missions? It is also worth mentioning that Prophet's movies (I don't remember how they are called but they are also played occasionally between missions) are working just fine. This issue is such a pain I can't describe it with words.

Movies with 3d map of NYC between missions - jumpy, slideshow, sound slowed (spelling like with noises)
Movies in EXTRAS - works like magic
Movies of Prophet's memory between missions and in EXTRAS - works like magic

Is it some bad coding of the game? I don't know, but I'm looking here for answers. My PC spec:

Asus Notebook K72Jk Series
Ati Mobility Radeon HD5145 1Gb (Newest drivers)
4Gb RAM
Intel Core i3 M350 2.27GHz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Running game on high settings and 1280x720 res (fullscreen, v-sync on)

Sorry no idea why :/
You sure the game itself isn't lagging?

Nope it works much better than Crysis 1. I didn't check my fps rate but it's playable (think my laptop is somewhat better than Xbox360 which has 30fps rate). Anyway, shouldn't the game stop being rendered for the in-game movies? You know it's the end of the level anyway. If this is the issue I call it bad game coding. Isn't it obvious that game shouldn't be rendered during the movie after finishing level? Gonna check my fps rate in a moment and then edit this post.

EDIT: I'm having fps rate range of 16-19fps on Roosevelt Island level.

Same thing here. The intro and the outro were really laggy and choppy for me like the OP stated. I have to admit that my machine is tending towards the lower requirements, but the game itself runs fine though. Seems to me that my machine doesn't like the video codec or something.

But if it was the codec's failure then the movies wouldn't work in the EXTRAS menu too, but they do. So, anybody more any ideas? This bug is so annoying I'm not going to give up just like that..

I'm having the same problem and haven't found any fix. The new patch didn't help either.

Specs:
Dell Studio with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Intel i5 m520@2.4 GHz (4 CPS)
4 GB RAM
DirectX 11
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

I noticed this problem on my 8600 GT aswell well which obviously isnt supported. Maybe these videos are those .bink videos ME2 which caused issues for people? I havent taken a look yet.
