Issues with killing... <spoilers within> : Fallout 4

Hi can't seem to get into the railroad to kill Desdemona after father has ordered me to, I can't open the door, nor can I move the railroad dial, have been told that usually the brotherhood of steel or the institute blow it open but this has not been the case please help

Having spoilers in the tags really doesn't help when your title is a spoiler in and of itself. Not to mention there is an entire section of the forum dedicated to spoilers.
