Italian Mod Compilation

Post » Wed Feb 24, 2010 12:08 pm

Ha, they're still using connary's and Darknut's mods in the compilation?
They need to read Fliggerty's thread on etiquette and respect I think.

Don't count on it. Those who lack etiquette and respect won't bother.

We really ought to just have Pseron Wyrd contact the MVC and put a hit out. Fogettahboutit. Kapish? :gun:

It seems that a group of Italian modders have compiled a large collection of mods that they're in the progress of releasing. I doubt they asked permission for using these mods so just a heads up if any of your mods are on the list.

RPG Experience Overhaul contains:

* Kalamestari_69's Mods * Kalamestari_69's Mods
- Welcome To The Arena! - Welcome To The Arena!

What the ****. They didn't ask me anything and they dare to include Welcome to the Arena! in this?

Hmmm, hopefully they just used the standard meshes in "Better Skulls" rather than the optional ones referring to the custom textures, as I think I asked in the last thread. *chuckle*

Their mod should be banned from all popular mod hosting sites as a consequecence of stealing other modders work.

They didn't give credit to the modders? They could ask.

But it's not a so bad idea a mod compilation i think, if they control mods conflicts obviously

Yep they should ask. :D

:nope:

But why they called it "Morrowind Overhaul" ? It should be the "Morrowind Mod Collection" instead don't you think.

That's just the problem, some of these mods will conflict and many are already out-of-date. You really think someone who can't bother getting permissions from the originators to include these mods in the first place is going to go thru the trouble of long-term, ongoing support and updating to avoid existing and future conflicts?

They've dismissed some of the author's wishes initially, so what makes you think they're going to give a moment's pause to contact those authors again about including their updates going forward?

Any compilation done in this fashion is a very bad idea. :nono:

If you don't respect modders they wont give any more mods and that makes an unhappy community. Other modders will see how these modders were treated and they wont want to make mods or will keep there mods for themselves, because they know they wont be treated nicely if they upload their mods. These people should have asked permision and not used the mods without it.

all this matter is highly stupid. Simply ban them from the ES world of modders and stop all this whinny. This Overhaul is made of fog, inconsistent and probably unusable and not have to be discussed more.

By luck my mods will be safe, because i reserve them and not put them anywhere, but send by request, then Overhaul people cannot use in any way..

I ask myself over and over again how stupid those guys can be?

Seems that they are not only stupid, they seem to be the dumbest f*ckers in the Elder Scrolls Universe!

Great job guys, not everyone deserve that title :mohawk:

Simply ban them from the ES world of modders...

And how would you propose we do that? There is no umbrella organization that has the power to ban any of us from this community. And this, in my opinion, is the community's greatest strength. This anarchic lack of organization allows each of us to express our creativity as we see fit without fear of "official" sanction.

We all know what we are getting into when we make work freely available on the internet. We are well within our rights to express our disapproval but, in my opinion, it is dangerous to speak of "banning" modders from a community.

I think the modding community has a legacy to preserve for the next generation of TES modders.

Then the problem is greater than i've thought.

well, i continue to be of my idea, Overhauls will end by themselves without do nothing.

Why?

Experience is a great mistress. A lot of times i have seen people start grand projects, and then end for team defections, disorganization, and lack of ideas. I'm sure that these boys will suffer the same fate.

About me, i'm an artisan and prefer work for myself, or out of ES then Overhaul dont touch me.

My guess is that this'll get released on the italian forums, people try it, it turns out buggy and crashy and conflicting and what not, people start complaining to whoever made the compilation (I guess one advantage of not always getting credit is not always getting blamed :P), not much is done about it and then everyone loses interest and forgets the whole thing.

Surely this is not the first time a compilation like this has been attempted, but you never hear about those either.

That's a link to an Oblivion compliation, and reading through it I can see that they also haven't credited the Oblivion modders.

How about directly linking to the pages/posts that you think matter, so that we don't have to wade through 18 full pages?
