Item collection

Post » Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:45 am

I've been wondering if anyone else collects items from around the wastes and hordes them or displays them. I like to display some of the Unique weapons I come across in my Lucky 38 suite on tables, shelves and on top of cabinets. I've seen some other people collect tons of one type of item in Fallout 3 like Nuka Cola trucks and even basket balls.

I collect plenty of pre-war crap, Vault Suits in particular being my favourite, I always too had a hard time letting go of energy weapons, prefering to horde them and make armouries like I have since Fallout 2, but I do it for every character playthrough...

It is one of my favorite things about the game! All of my characters are able to tell their own unique story of their adventures by the stuff they put on display. Here's one of my most recent toons and my display room from Bucks Place in my New Bison Steve mod.

Thats quite a collection, makes me wish I had New Vegas for the PC.
The Mannequins are a nice touch, used to use a mod much like that for Fallout 3 to display some Space Marine armours.

If it's not bottles of whiskey or absinthe, I stockpile valuables like creature eggs.

I only played F3 on the PC before my ever growing family got in the way. I love what the modders do with their games; the personalization is amazing. Adding mannequins to display your captured/recovered armors is sweet to look at. On my ps3 I use the Abandoned BOS bunker but it lacks a burner or campfire type setup which would make it optimal. Still, I enjoy putting my items out there and having secondary safe houses to display my Nuka Cola trucks and teddy bears.

I used to do this all the time with my Megaton home in fallout 3, but I just cant get into it in New Vegas. I think its because I use the hotel room in Novac and its just so dark in there and I cant really see anything.

Go into the store room and steal all of them, then go to the north gate in Vegas and place them one by one in front of it. Finally New Vegas has a army worthy of protecting it.

Turbo. It is my life's goal to do so much Turbo, that everything is always in slow motion forever, and I have a massive heart attack and total collapse of all bodily functions when the effect runs out.

Teddy bears and party hats. I have loads of them on my bed in my Novac room. I'm now collecting toy cars and NukaCola trucks. :celebration:

Oh and harmonicas for some reason. Don't no why, but I always have to pick them up.

I horde all unique things. As for any normal weapon or armor, I am compelled to keep at least 4 of each. I stay in Novac so there isn't much space to display anything :sadvaultboy:

Some games, I also display one of each skill book. That's tough for me though, because I really like being high-powered. The temptation to read the books and get stronger is so overwhelming that my library usually doesn't last long.

I keep one fully modded example of each weapon in the trunk at the end of the bed. Worth thousands of caps too. They all have to be fully 3 x modded and fully repaired as well. Don't know why. I never use most of them.

I found that aswell, it's the same with the hotel suite. Its all too dark, and the pip-boy light doesn't do much to help either.

If you just dumped your items on the floor, will they eventually disappear for lag issues? And also, once you kill Benny/he runs to fortification hill, is his suite in the tops casino yours now?

If you drop items on the floor, the only danger is they may render underneath a rug (if there are any in this game). Left outside on the ground a random NPC may pick them up, but that does not seem to happen too often.

You can use the Suite, but it remains owned by Benny so you can lose ownership of an item if you place it in a container.

Every bottle of Sunset Sarsaparilla and Nuka-Cola (and its variants) I've ever found are in the vending machine in my suite. I also collect Nuka-Cola trucks, and a good chunk of the skill magazines I've found are in the footlocker in the 2nd bedroom.

Yes I have done this in the past 2 games. When I saw some of the NPC rooms in fo3, I decided I needed to do that myself.

I ll set special weapons around, helmets of different factions, deathclaw hands that killed followers. (Death claw hands are really hard to set up) It all makes my video game guys and girls feel more alive.

I have weapons food/water and ammo stockpiled all over the wastes.
