[Relz] Item Interchange - Thread #4

Post » Wed Mar 23, 2011 2:49 am

I really want this to work badly but am having ALOT of trouble with installation. I seem to be following the directions given in the readme to the last word but oblivion refuses to load when I try to use this mod.

If you follow the instructions correctly, it will work, so how about explaining as best you can what you did, and give me a load order? If you do that, maybe I can help you.

Sorry for the double post but apparently this isn't the issue. I'm trying to find the problem now.

A small bump to keep people appraised of progress with II.

I'm working with the latest MMM and Cobl alphas and I'll be helping out a little there with http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/Working/MorphoidHeartMockup.jpg. At this point II's gained support for the following stuff since the last release:

MMM Diverse Waterlife
Francesco's Optional Tougher Bosses
Armamentarium's enchanted armour
Rolling Hills UL
Beaches of Cyrodiil UL
Fallenleaf Everglade UL
Dark Forest UL
Entius Gorge UL
More Poisened Food (I'm not responsible for people mis-spelling their own mods)
Broadswords
DLCOrrery

And preliminary support for:
ElsweyrAnequina
WAC (Waalx' Animals and Creatures)

And a whole new system for the "Items in Bulk" options.

To be honest, a huge chunk of the work has been working on the new loot with/for Cobl and MMM, massive kudos to Haama and Corepc for their work on this stuff and for making it easy for II to work with it all seamlessly. The changelog at this stage is fairly hefty. :snoring: I'd better update the credits to make sure everyone relevant's mentioned correctly.

I'm glad someone's interested. :wavey:
I'm also sorry it's taking this long for people out in the wider world to get access to the updated files. I've been having a whale of a time with the updated lists and loot, personally. They'll be with you as soon as I can release them.

So true! The most posts the II thread gets is when I make a release and forget to tag the plugins correctly first. :P

Thankyou, both of you.

And thanks for that, too. We'll see what else I can get made. And what else I can get added to II. I think there are huge numbers of mods out there that I don't use and no-one bothers suggesting.

I'm quite curious what they offer out of II's list of stuff? I assumed Slof's mod was all clothes, was that wrong?

Dunno about Slof's, but StarX VVR has a ton of weapons and new armor. Speaking of weapons, what about Elsweyr: Anequina? That mod adds a bunch of wepaons and a few sets of armor as well. I could easily see Khajiit weapons infiltrating the Cyrodiilic markets.

Elsweyr's already got basic support, but II just doesn't do weapons and armour as a general rule: there'd be no end to it and balancing is a nightmare with the different overhauls. It works with Armamentarium because Armamentarium already has systems of balancing with the different overhauls.

Edit: Elsweyr's already got basic support in the development version...

Gone through the thread and readme but couldn't find anything, so asking instead. When I run MMMforOOO, should I use the II's FCOM file? For most mods this seems to be the case when running MMMforOOO but I'm not quite sure if it's ALWAYS the case. :) At some point I might just have to fold and go full FCOM since then I'll always know what to install atleast. ;)

I'm not quite sure what to say... The omod script asks "are you using FCOM?", the readme states:
Item interchange - Placement for FCOM.esp - A hack-job to ensure compatibility with FCOM.
and
iv) FCOM
If you are using FCOM then you should use the alternate placement plugin provided for this mod package.
What else am I supposed to write? I couldn't (and therefore won't attempt to try) listing every possible combination of mods just to say that you should use the regular plugin for them.

Didn't mean for it to sound like I was bashing on the readme or anything, sorry if it came out that way. I blame it on the english language ;)
I've been running with the regular plugin and it has worked fine as far as I can tell, but I just figured I'd ask since there might be those that know better than me how it works with MMMforOOO. :)

No worries, I would hope that any plugin from any mod that was intended for both MMM for OOO and FCOM would be clearly labeled and described as such. FCOM has so much more going on in it than MMM for OOO that it's not really reasonable to count them as the same thing and assume users will just "get it" without explanation.

Can someone explain the upside of using II with an FCOM/Cobl/Armamentarium install? I ran it for a while but couldn't notice any differences and would think that the item interchange between those are already handled by the various compatibility patches and the Bashed Patch. Or am I missing something?

If your not adding other mods that it pulls from and populates into then you are probably right. I'm certain Vacuity will correct me if wrong but I don't see the stuff that II adds as any more than what it extracts from and if those sources are already list based mods and you have no extra mods to add to then yeah maybe not such an addition.

To bad this one never got updated to the latest mods. I've used it back when I had FCOM installed and it worked great. Nowadays I use a combination of WAC and OWC - New Dimension and It would be great if it worked with Item Interchange. Would it be easy to update it for those and other mods?

Well I recall Vacuity saying that he couldn't update because he no longer has all the mods that went into the current version and therefore couldn't load it into edit to make the filter thing.

But then perhaps he might consider just not including the missing mods in the next version and start anew ...?
