Item placement mods?

Just wondering what people are using to place items in and around there homes, the default Z grab key is not so hot at times.

A fortuitous question, as I'll be releasing one - likely in the next few days.

The only other one for FO3 that I've ever been aware of is http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5443, but from what I recall TGBlank wasn't really interested in developing it beyond it's somewhat experimental state.

Not being able to control my decorating fetish, I look forward to this mod! (PLEASE put up a RELz thread here) :foodndrink:

Although, I have gotten quite good with the z key, sometimes it can be very time consuming getting things "just right", lol. But, that's part of the fun with it.

yeah, its a pain trying to put items on shelfs. Helms just right and weapons and bottles places where I want them.

cause I like to fill my empty shelfs and tables and my house with my loot and items like cans food and such.

Heck my current guy has enough weapons and armor and ammo stored up in containers (some I wanted to display in my home) to out fit 10 people easy.

Would be nice to be able to display some of that in my house you know?

well the mannequin mod looks neat but there may be a problem with O:A

Titan, not to shamelessly promote my own mod, but if you look in my sig at Chekov's Place, I have a very nice display room/museum for exactly what you are doing!

sweet mod dude, the armory fully stocked puts me off, but I may get it anyway and refrain from using the armory, I like FWE and I kinda like my rare ammo.

Yeah, just pick 'em all up and put them in a spare locker somewhere, then lay out your own - no problem!

my thread IDC.

but yeah, it kinda fits my wants/needs as it has a display room.

I might pick it up for photos and such and not use the provided weapons/ammo, the mannequin mod would be neat there.

Oh yes, I love the mannequin mod, especially for power armor, and I had that in mind quite a bit when I built her! Please post the pics! I hope you enjoy it. :foodndrink:

having some serious issues when I went to wipe and reinstall FO-3 and mods for a clean fresh install only using the mods I wanted, cleaned up ESP and mesh/textures. It seems I will have to wipe again tonight and then go from there mod by mod (gonna skip a few this time) and see if I can get it working.

after reading again what i wrote and your answer(s) i think i ahould clarify :)

I am not opposed of decorating, in the contrary. One of the most important mods for me in Oblivion was the one that let move and lock down items so you could show them off on your walls/tables etc. without kicking them around. My comment was just a rant that no such mod exists for FO3 at that time, not intended to accost (?) you. :)

Hopefully it gets released soon as I am looking for the same thing. The portable bobblehead display stand works in a way where you place the moveable item, and then activate it while holding it to lock it in place. Sadly it doesnt want to display my bobbleheads, but it shows it can be done. I am hoping for something that allows a little more precise movement of items though. Something that alows you to rotate and such and so that the item didnt just flop all over the place while you move it. I recall watching a video a long time ago for Real Time Settler where he was moving stuff around with a FOSE version that worked something like that.

Does this mod you tested allow that?

Oh and I currently use http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10239 as my base. If it doesnt bother you that you have to teleport to get to it it has some very nice display/organizing areas with spots for placing mannequins.

To the guys testing the pre-release version of my mod: You can ignore my warning that any items you've placed won't remain locked with the release. That won't be an issue.

Once I'm done with the readme, this will be released. I'll link to a new RELz thread from here, for anyone waiting.

Nice demo! I couldn't help thinking while watching it that the ability to scale items as well wouldn't go amiss, and perhaps the ability to select multiple items for "mass translation" and quick locking/unlocking.

Nice demo!

Thanks! Did you watch 'til the end? ;)

Hey, I hadn't thought of scaling - that'll be a definite feature for an update!

I briefly considered the multi-item selection at one point, but remember how rotation actually works? Group translations wouldn't be bad, but not sure how useful if you can't then rotate as well.

Anyway, here ya go:

Yeah, the X and Y axes wouldn't be consistent for a group of references, and implementing group rotation around the Z axis wouldn't be particularly easy either. That's not really a reason not to allow group translation though, in my opinion.

Is it possible to remap the controls somehow? I'm using a laptop sized keyboard, no numpad here :|
