Items in Items

Post » Thu Nov 04, 2010 12:36 am

Since we are getting much better menus with more details on items and the items in 3D. Would you like to see maybe books that if you flip it around to the back there is a note that has directions to a secret dungeon? Or even if you examine some piece of treasure or other object in your inventory you can find either a piece of a weapon and there are many different pieces scattered all of Skyrim and if you callect all of them you can forge a special weapon or item.

This may all ready be in the game.

I believe these sorts of things may already be hinted at. However, I would like to see treasure chests inside of treasure chests inside of treasure chests inside of treasure chests inside of treasure chests inside of treasure chests inside of treasure chests! :chaos:

Yea I think that's one of the reasons inventory items are 3d now...

And inside the last treasure chest is a tiny room with a man hunched over something. You reach in and tap him on the shoulder. Suddenly you feel something graze your neck. You turn around and see yourself staring back. Incomprehensible, brain-hemorrhaging chaos ensues, :chaos: shredding your thoughts and enveloping your mind. All of a sudden the treasure chests begin to slam shut, one after the other, like a chain of dominos falling to the ground, until finally the last one closes, locking you away within your own madness forever. :bonk:

Edit: On a lighter note, I agree with johntown. It would be cool to find maps or clues to treasures hidden withinin items and books. Or even have some of the literature within the game allude to potential treasure located in obscure dungeons or locations around the map.

This would make for some awesome puzzling. This makes me think of the gameplay that makes many point&click adventure games so great!

Even if it was just reading a book and finding a key inside I would be happy, you know looks like a normal book then you pick it up and read it and boom you've got a key, just got to find where it fits...

I'm fairly certain they may have this in the game, seeing as they probaly added the 3d view for a reason.

Didn't the Spanish or Italian mag mention examining a dragon claw quest item to find the code for a locked door?

(code as in a sequence of stone buttons, ya Luddites)

I seem to remember something like this being mentioned somewhere already, in the current coverage of the game that is. I can't recall where exactly.

This remind me many games where I had been pushing too many walls finding a secret door and similar things. it's something that could be cool but not so cool as not feeling the need to examinate every object you take, varius times and from all the angles.

I agree that I do not want to search every single item that I get. Mainly just special or unique items......a book that may look different than the others. Something in house that stands out. Not every single sword and thing you get.

Just being able to look at and study the items you pick up in a 3D perspective is gonna be very fun, can't wait for that.
What you suggest makes this even better. I think it's a great idea.

I really hope, if we see any traces of the Imperial Legion (perhaps in the lowlands), there'll be a guard who says that. Just as a nice easter egg.

This would be a world-class thing to add to the game, and fairly simple. For instance there are people who read the in-game books and those that don't. Well say you're reading this "3-d" book and you notice little imperfections that might have something hidden. Like behind the front cover there appears to be stitched slightly at the top to you try and check if it's something hidden. It might be nothing, you might unleash some kind of demon from the depths of oblivion that will eat you, or maybe you'll find a key. Now you may not know what that key is for, but perhaps there are some clues hidden within the book. That would make finding and collecting these books all the more fun and hopefully leading to some unique and valuable objects (doesn't matter what kind as long as they either look good, are great equitables, teach you something helpful, or sell well.

Since you can rotate objects in 3D, I reckon it would be cool if...

  • You could turn a vase upside down and an object falls out,
  • You could see the creatures captured inside your soul-gems,
  • You could see writing hidden on the inside of a skull.

I'd rather they not waste disc space on a 3D inventory. Too late now though.

Actually this has already been done in some titles such as Resident Evil. You would examine the item in 3D, and sometimes you could "open" or manipulate the item. Sometimes it would turn into a key, or there would be something inside of a book. Anyways, it was an awesome game element. Two thumbs up! (and a big toe)

I really like this, I remember reading it in the GI article and I really hope they actually take it somewhere, I'd love to solve puzzles or get clues to hidden things by actually examining items.
