Items sink through table

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 7:05 pm

Hello, so I have a table built in my house in Sanctuary Hills (floors are foundations), and half of my items sink through the table whenever I re-enter Sanctuary and come back. They just end up on the ground and not on the table. The items are Beer, a Dirty Ashtray and Sugar Bombs which I've put as a minor detail to the house. Any way to fix this and is anyone else having this issue? Thanks in advance.

Common problem. Also happens with food-o-matics and shelves and the like.

You've got to love the Creation Engine! I really thought F4 wouldn't suffer from the very same issues that Fallout 3 / New Vegas & Skyrim did. Shocking really.

I only saw 2 posts about it though, felt like I was one of the only ones at first.. Any fix?

Hopefully there's a fix or a mod soon.

I turned Home Base into a pretty cool looking lounge. I wanted to spruce it up by adding all the regular things you'd find in such a place (various alcohol bottles, glasses, cigars etc.).

Same thing happened to me. Some of the items fell through the objects I set them on. Other items completely disappeared, only to be found later in a weird location in a heap on the ground.

I've since decided to place all items that I planned on using to custom decorate my place into their own chest until it (hopefully) gets fixed. If not, then my little Diamond City lounge will be nothing more than empty furniture and shelves.

I doubt whether this problem will ever be fixed. Beth are known for only half fixing bugs, they rarely put time into correcting the game engine problems. They did rave on how good things would be now. Placed items are disappearing faster than any previous game for me. More empty promises.

The best you can do is spend half an hour setting things up. Take a screen pic. And place the items back in storage.

It happens everywhere, even on the floor. I placed one of those plastic dog bowls next to a doghouse I built in RR and it sunk through the floor and vanished. Instead of replacing the bowl, I built Dogmeat a crate and keep all his stuff in it.

I also have a foot locker in which I've been storing all of the decorative stuff I want to use in my residences for if/when this issue gets fixed. I'm playing on console, so unofficial PC patches won't be helpful to me. I remain hesitantly optimistic that Bethesda will fix the problem while still knowing that a lot of stuff never ends up getting patched.

What makes it a little more frustrating this time around is that they intended for us to be customizing our player homes. They gave us an array of shelving and table options, for what? To remain completely empty? I'm also playing on console, so unless Bethesda remedies the problem, that's all they'll ever be.

Heard if you place the item without using workshop (grabbing) or place it with workshop, grab the item and put it back this issue doesn't happen. I will try that, but yeah, I feel you.

Same. Finally, they give me a way to decorate/place objects easily without tearing my hair out, only to have it constantly end up half-way through the shelf or on the ground the next time I visit. Disappointing. :(

Yeah, I've even had magazines fall out of the magazine stand, even though they are added via a script that lays up the magazines when you put them into the stand as a container. Some of them even ended up under the floor!

There should be an option in the workshop mode to make objects completely static and turn off all physics properties for them, "Lock in place" or something like that, and it would only be movable if you unlocked it again through the workshop mode.

Genius. I don't know how hard something like that would actually be to implement/code, but it would be amazing. I've heard tales of a trick to prevent this, but I can't get it to work myself. If you place the item in workshop mode, then go into regular mode and hold down the "take" button (like if you're dragging a dead ghoul off your property) and just slightly nudge the item before putting it back down, it supposedly stays there even after leaving the area...doesnt work for me tho, I put a coffe pot on a dresser as a test, nudged it and traveled away and back and it was clipped halfway thru the table... #emptyshelves

There's another related issue that I experienced recently. There were a few items that were displaying normally for many days, but then I accidentally moved one of them and put it back in place. After going away to do quests, I came back to discover *all* the items that used to stay in place were sinking or on the floor. So I accidentally moved one completely unrelated item (even in a different room) and suddenly all previously unaffected items were affected.

I saw a teddy bear floating 6 feet the air like it was normal, just something to remind me who made the game. Baglitchda

Proof positive that Bethesda can tweak, rename and rebrand the Engine any way they want, but it's still Gamebryo deep down....you'll be wanting a Feng Shui mod when it comes out (allows for nearly endless decoration potential and locks items in place).

I have two magazine racks in my original home in Sanctuary that I have been filling up since the game released.

Last night I returned home to find that my pristine built magazine racks had sunk into the floor and now looked like a pole on a stand. My magazines were still inside them but they were not displayed.

I was not impressed.

I tried collecting Nuka Cola Quantums in my Red Rocket. Now most of them are half way sticking out of the floor unable to be picked up. Not making that mistake again.

No solution but I put a skull, a pool cue and started collecting balls for the pool table which all sunk into the table. My coffee table has been ok with a molitov, a pack of mentats and some food paste in case anyone's hungry.

I would seriously love to see a solution to this in the form of a proper patch, applicable to consoles as well as pc. I'm playing on PS4 and I've been having the same problem. One day I got back to Sanctuary Hills to find a typewriter I had lovingly put on a desk, lying halfway in the grass/ground several houses away... Come on! :glare:

I would love a fix for this in a patch too. I'm tired of seeing all the items I have collected from my journeys sink into the shelves, floor and into the void. Who knows what has vanished for good. My toy trucks :-( Please Bethesda, a fix would be appreciated.

Anyone know how often we can expect these patches? They don't seem to be telling us much, other than to expect loads of smaller patches through beta first. Nothing about frequency or what they intend to fix unfortunately.

I wouldn't expect an official fix for this. The bug has been around since they introduced "Havoc" in the gamebryo engine in Oblivion (aptly named imo). If they were ever going to fix it, it would be with a game focused on houses and settlements. If it's not fixed now, I don't think it ever will be.

That's a real shame, as this game has a huge focus on settlements and houses albeit optional to an extent, but one can wish. Let's hope they release the GECK soon then, so the great Modding community we have can put an end to this madness.
