This is a quote from the spectral assasain(Aka Lucien Lachance)

'You stand upon the precipice of the void, I am reminded of another Listener, a protege I knew long ago, so long ago"(You can hear this quote later on the Db questline)

Whats your thoughts on this?

He's talking about Champ, plain and simple.

The quest content is almost always canon. The Thieves Guild stories all happened, too, as did Fighters and Mages Guilds... presumably it's the same in Morrowind (although things might get hazy where quest chains conflict).

Whether or not it was the same PC that does everything else is often left vague; I usually have 2 or 3 characters per TES game- 1 for the Main Quest and one or two Guilds (b/c the Main Quest usually makes them BAMF's, so why not?), and then another 2 for the other quests that don't quite fit the character of Persona Prima, either playstyle or morality.

Skyrim reopens a can of worms, though. My PC slaughtered the Dark Brotherhood, and will have nothing to do with either Companions or Thieves. I plan on making 2 additional characters to see those plots through, but what about the DB quest line?

Does the Emperor still die?
Even though I've wiped out the group that makes it happen, it would be hard to go forward without having some kind of side-reference to the events, wouldn't it?

I don't see anything in the quote that mandates it being the Champion of Cyrodiil. Like Seeker says, there was some Listener that did the DB questline, but it doesn't have to be the same (wo)man who did the main quest or any of the other guilds.

Seeker: I'd say yes, that even happens. It will just say "the DB killed him," but not specify your role in it. Would hardly be the first time.

It's ambiguous like all things in Skyrim. The Champion of Cyrodiil is only what you decide he or she was for yourself, you can decide for yourself if the Champion was a Listener, the Gray Fox or even Sheogorath or just a champion of Cyrodiil with no ties to any of the former guilds etc etc etc.

That means that someone did the db questline in oblivion weather it was the CoC is really up to you, every tes player has their own little canon, for some people the CoC may have been listener, for others its another character they played, and some people just have a random stranger. For example in oblivion i created my main character then i created his brother, a legion veteran who inherited all of his stuff after he mysteriously disappeared.

Yeah, I'm gonna pretend that he's talking about the CoC. Because for my main character in Oblivion, he and Lucien were best [censored] friends ever
