Its lonely here in the future - no next gen rpg :(

Post » Fri Jan 24, 2014 1:34 am

Well i had invested many many hours into fallout and skyrim and i went and got gta v and it fried my hd and my system so i lost all data.

so i traded all games and broken ps3 for used ps3 and played bf4 and gta v to hold me out till next gen

Got a wild hair and made the jump to next gen and sold my ps3

Now here i am with no mp friends on bf4 because they are all still on last gen and no rpg to play

Its such a sad situation that i have had to resort to beating a fps campaign 4 times,... Im so ashamed.

So i plead to you bethesda fallout 4 boston before the end of the year. Think about the poor souls such as myself who are suffering these 1st world problems. How can you turn your backs to us?

Looks like my only light at the end of the tunnel is the new dragon age game and i have never played any of them, but have beaten all 3 mass effects

There are plenty of RPGs in the video game industry's history, some exceptionally good. I suggest you broaden your horizons if you think you have to resort to playing something like BF4's campaign four times in a row. Or perhaps you should find a new hobby, because you really must have been bored to subject yourself to that.

As for "next-gen" RPG's: Dark Souls II. Fallout 4 is likely to be announced soon also.

RPGs are generally slow to arrive to new consoles. Morrowind for Xbox and Oblivion for Xbox 360 kinda been the exceptions, but there's nothing that close this console generation, at least from Bethesda as their current project hasn't even been officially announced.

With your sights set so low, you might as well go back to last gen.

As for hobby right now is my downtime its subzero temps outside. Sons football out of season. I work 12 hr days swingshift and on my days off im wide awake at hours like 2am.

Television is a passive experience for just zoning out, i need an active experience like video games to fill the void, im also a web designer and when i sold a 5 year product of constant involvement for 6 figures i just cant start a new project, ive tried and just cant get into it. So now i game , only when family is asleep

I wouldn't necessarily say that low. He could try road to hell retribution. Still he is casting his gaze so narrowly he won't see any good RPG's with such narrow criteria.

At this point i just want an engaging experience!

I have played all launch titles for ps4 , nothing grabbed me like my favorite games have.

I once played fallout new vegas for 16 hrs strait lol its embarrassing but true, and i cant think of anything i would want to do for 16 hours strait.

Tomb raider is coming out in a few days but i dont like tomb raider didnt stop me from getting black flag and hating AC i played black flag for like 2 hours and said this game is crap and traded it back... Rinse and repeat for all next gen titles

Cross fingers that dice fixes hit detection on bf4 so its atleast playable i have like a level 90 character but cant stand the broken issues with the game anymore

Try Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It is not the game I had hoped it to be but it's still a good game and if you liked FO:NV you will be in somewhat familiar territory.

I'm not surprised. It's a damn fine game.

Indeed. Sounds like you have standards :D But playing BF4 SP four times in a row contradicts that

Neither of these games are for the PS4 and DieselMinded said he sold his PS3, so he can't play them.

Then he has zero options whatsoever but wait or buy another console/PC.

You've doomed yourself OP.

One reason I don't get the next-gen consoles on release. The lack of games and I am not paying at full price.

There is The Witcher 3 to look forward to but there is no definite release date for that as of yet. And it would've helped to had played the previous games of the series (which I highly recommend) but then again you don't have a PS3 and now that I think about it, The Witcher series has never been on PS in the first place. Unfortunately, you're going to have to wait for the real games to release but on the bright side of things you have plenty of good RPGs to look forward to.

Need more information to make an adequate assessment, but first impressions have yielded mixed results

Such as? There has been very few RPGs announced at all as far as I am aware. Hard to tell if some will be "good" or not also. Oh, I forgot Cyberpunk 2077, though the Witcher has mediocre gameplay (in my opinion) so I am cautious of it.

The problem with 'next gen' is console users will have to wait a year or so until devs start catching up with the tech, while dedicated PC games are already there.

Well for starters, Dragon Age III: Inquisition as mentioned, which although the second game of the series fell short from what I have heard, the third one looks promising. As for The Witcher, the third game will be open world so perhaps that will grab your attention as it seems it has for many who have never had an interest in the series beforehand. And uh, well I guess there aren't MANY to look forward to, but there ARE RPG games to look forward to.

Next gen console is the future? Please...

Really though, RPGs are far and few between on consoles, unless you live in an asian country where they have RPGs left and right on every platform that never see the light of day in the western world.

Im not into the anime stuff anyway, i also cannot stand turn based battles and over use of QTE's

Im picky i guess, i want an rpg the most but i like a lot of different games. Just none thats really out soon

I loved MGS on ps2 but hated it so bad on ps3 that it turned me off to stealth games all together, i did finish dishonored but i wouldnt recommend it to anyone, so watch dogs is already no hype to me .

Mad max looks like it may be ok but who knows i think there will be no rpg elements

To be honest my favorite games is a broad range of game types one of them being bioshock infinite which i found to be awe inspiring both in game design, game play, visuals and story and it had very little rpg elements and was on rails per-say but none the less an amazong experience i completed in 1 setting and when it was over i was like wtf just happened

Btw: Next Gen systems are the future, pc guys have to upgrade their systems to play the newest hot item everytime , atleast with consoles they have years of life cycle

Except PC parts have years of lifetime as well. If you're willing to tone down the graphics for more hardware-intensive games, you can easily get as much life out of them as any old console.

PCs also have the ability to play pretty much any game ever released even after new technology comes out, so we're not stuck with a system that has no games after upgrading.

You've doomed yourself, and now you've also gone and doomed your thread.

I'll try and save it: Consoles have their set of benefits, as do PCs. Though many of the console's benefits over PCs are getting stripped away as the years roll by.

It was this way of thinking of yours that doomed your near future of no RPGs (or good games in general). If you had older consoles or a PC you could actually be playing good games rather than BF4 SP over and over.

I enjoy PCs and consoles, I am part of the diverse master race.

Indeed. Good thing I don't care about graphics or "what's hot", so don't need to upgrade more than I do with consoles. What's hot right now is all those bad games you are playing  have fun. I'll be playing the worthy ones on last gen consoles, since nearly everything new will be released on them for a while. I'll upgrade my PC or get a PS4 in a few years time. Also the PS4 and any previously "hot" exclusive games will be much cheaper by then.
